SoCal was just hit with a 5.4-magnitude earthquake that could be felt from LA to San Diego, with a bit of tremor striking as far as Las Vegas. As of now, there have been no reports of damages or injuries. Any west siders want to offer an on-the-scene report?
My coworker next door was on a conference call with folks from Cali and I heard a big "whoa, we just had an earthquake!" over the speaker phone. They kept right on going with the call so I hope that is a good sign for everyone else out there.
I just gave a quick play by play on my blog. But, ours lasted about 30 seconds. The building shook and rumbled, but nothing fell/broke/got damaged. Nobody got injured, so that was a good thing.
Still…it was my first earthquake. I really don't think I have to experience that again. I'm good.
I was in class 3 miles from the epicenter on the first floor of a 10 story building everyone was like "what is that shaking?" " oh earthquake"
Then we realized we were surrounded by floor to ceiling bookshelves and windows and we dived under the table..I have never felt so close to my professor than when all 14 of us were under the table shoulder to shoulder.
I think he touched my butt =)
A lot of the students are new to CA and they were really shook….Welcome to CA!
Usually I love having my own office w/ its pretty plate glass window. But you've never seen anyone scramble for the cubicles like I did when that earthquake started up. Just as I was getting frustrated about how hard it was to find a doorway away from any glass, it stopped. Not my first earthquake here, but definitely my biggest. And the aftershocks had me scared to re-enter my office for like 40 minutes. Plus, I'm way behind now, so all in all: Work day Earthquakes = no good major inconvenience
