The 23-months in federal prison, in addition to however much, if any, prison time he gets if convicted of his pending state charges, will effectively put a close to what was — minus the behind-the-scenes penchant for cruelty to animals — a promising career. As it stands now, football is out of the question, and the riches he amassed from playing football are nearly gone.
Vick agreed to pay more than $928,000 for the care of some 54 pit bulls seized from his property.Prosecutors also have disclosed the extent of Vick's financial ruin. According to court documents, the Atlanta Falcons are attempting to recoup bonus money from his 10-year, $130 million football contract, Vick is in default on a $1.3 million bank loan for a wine store, and two other banks have filed suits seeking repayment of a $4.5 million in loans and lines of credit.
Vick's home in the Atlanta area is on the market for $4.5 million, prosecutors said in court papers. The Virginia home where the dogfighting operation was based, assessed at nearly $750,000, is on the auction block, according to reports published over the weekend.
I hadn't given much though to his financial ruin, but when detailed above I alsmost had a twinge of sympathy for the man. Almost. I'd like to know if there have been similar cases of dog fighting and how much time those ring leaders got. Was there precedent set re the sentencing or did the judge just pick a number? Two years sounds a little harsh to me also, but I'm not complaining too much.
It sounds like he got a just sentence for what he did. I'm surprised he didn't get more.
Wow, yeah he besides being in jail is getting his ass kicked in his bank account. Must be why he is selling off all his property or maybe he just knows he wont be using them for the next two years…http://www.housefront.com/2021022 (thats his house for sale)
even if it was in the middle of the sentencing range, there was some thought that he would likely be sentenced to a year, so this was in fact on the harsher side.
Holy Mother….I guess thats good he is going to jail…doesn't have to deal with expenses like rent a mortgage….utility bills. I did read that he is selling his giant house (here's the home if you want to see it http://www.housefront.com/2021022)
it's sad really…
I'm sure that dogs everywhere are dunking wine glasses in their doggie bowls, raising their glasses of water, and toasting that this moron is being sent to prison.
Just crazy… The man will not get out of jail until October 2009. It will be interesting to see if the league suspends him for a year after he gets out or whether he willbe on the free agency list for the 2009 season and be able to go right back out on to the field.
Sucks to be him, but he has no one to blame but himself.
They were dogs, f'in dogs. There are people who have done worse to human beings that you don't her such an outcry.
Wow! By the time he gets out, I'll have my masters and my little sister will be in her first semester of college.
I don't really have anything to say about Vick. Just bragging about myself.
They were dogs, f’in dogs. There are people who have done worse to human beings that you don’t her such an outcry.
Yeah, people really don't make enough of a fuss about all the human rape stands, human electrocutions, human lynchings and human fights to the death.
I'm confused by what you're saying, P-Lo. Is human suffering just boring now?
Yeah thats exactly what P. Lo is saying. All yall punk muthafucks sure got alot to say about how evil this nigga is for making dogs fight but what do yall have to say about all the human suffering in the world.
No it's not right to abuse animals but is it worth all this money and ruining this Black man's life.
And I'm so sick of those heartless PETA bastards! UGH suck a wast of time and energy that should be focused on the humans on this planet who need our help. Fuck PETA!!!
PETA is a shady organization. I think there should be every effort made to alleviate unnecessary suffering of all life. The "unnecessary" and "capitalism" just don't go well together. Damn if I know why Vick is in jail and Big Tobacco is walking free. Both enterprises capitalize on the weakness of others and cause death and suffering.
