• TV One's on the come-up. Watch your back, BET. [CNN]
• Advertisements, shmadvertisements, or so we say. [MD]
• South Carolina blacks may vote for the Dems, but they aren't very liberal. [MBP]
• The Jena Six case is like 2007's version of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Although no one has to give up anything to say, "Free the Jena Six!" [USAT]
• My name and OJ Simpson's mentioned in the text of the same article? A dubious distinction, at best. [BS]
1)I never heard of TV One, until now. So here is hoping tha Charter (my local cable company) picks it up.
2)Most advertising isn't properly marketed toward us. Half the time, you don't even see minorities, in most commercials.
3)The Jena Six…I feel like there isn't enough I can do, to help that situation. It saddens me, that I can't attend the rally (I have my first day of class, the day after). But I do all that I can, to spread the word.
4)Can't really defend OJ. We got Rodney King. I think the only reason we got OJ back then, was because of wide spread fear of a repeat riot scenario (remember the original Rodney King verdict?). But the guy is doing it to himself now. Why write that book? He should of kept his ish low key, instead of acting like white people (and even some Blacks) don't hate 'em.
"African-American and Hispanic customers are almost twice as likely to "enjoy looking at or listening" to advertising than their peers"
Ugghhh, yuck. I loathe tv, magazine, radio ads, etc. I especially loathe ads in movies.
TV1 is a great channel. They play re-runs of 227 & Amen so I'm an automatic fan.
Spendi - Charter doesn't have TV One?? Damn. Direct Tv has had it since it came on I think. I watch Goodtimes on it all the time. And that puts a big smile on my face b/c Themla always reminds me of my mom when she was young and pimpin' that fro.
Yeah…Charter is an alright provider…but I haven't seen TV One. I used to have Time Warner…but that was back in the IE. Out here in Dino, Charter still runs things. So…I guess i'll have to start calling in and requesting it. Hopefully enough folks follow suit, so I can see what's really good.
