Australia needs to start them young. So do we but apparently, many (white) parents don't want to trouble their "color blind" children's pure little heads. Young kids are as aware of skin color as they are gender. Why is it okay to tell them not to treat people of other races poorly if we tell them not to treat people of the other gender poorly? The exception of course would be the several under 8 boys in my family who got their game from Pepe le Peu. Also inappropriate.

Austrailia is one of the most racist societies on the planet (think one big red state), so anything they are doing to change negative attitudes in the next generation is a good thing.

Australia is a beautiful country with a strange past, it was originally a convict colony, where England would dump it's unwanted from prisons onto ship bound for Australia, when there they would be laborers and eventually set free.
The convicts supplanted to Aboriginal inhabitants and removed them from prime lands (same as the American experience).
But most racist, I don't think so, there are many Blacks and other people of color who have chosen to migrate there, and enjoy it there.

South Africa - still rabidly so
Russia - Blacks face stiff difficulty
Croatia - Blacks are impeded/denigrated
Eastern Europe - No all, only a few countries, it appears to be more from poverty than race.
China - They are still trying to figure it out

Sweden - Very welcoming
Germany - Western Germany good, Eastern not so good
Poland - newly minted relations
UK - Good
USA - segregation=Housing/salary/health
Canada - Good
France - Very good and somewhat bad
Italy - Somewhat OK, but not welcoming
