I love Erykah Badu. I can't put her in the same category as other females who go around having babies by different men. She really does seem like one of those hippie chicks who practices free love and her children are a symbol of that union no matter how brief.

So, Cassie is the AKA Barbie?

AKA Barbie looks in no way Negroid. She looks racially ambiguous as do all other remotely colored barbies.

Erykah Badu is a G. I dig the fact that she responded like that and as long as she can afford to take care of her kids, she can have 30, 000 of them as long as her uterus can handle it.

Bernie got played. That was hilarious.

First and foremost, as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I find it to be of utmost importance to congratulate my wonderful organization for all its accomplishments thus far. Any soror would recognize this as a major accomplishment that only gives a slight hint at what our organization stands. This doll is only a meager achievement in a long line of other accolades and accomplishments. Congrats Sorors!

Ahh I'm not an AKA, but I can't explain how it feels to finally see a black Barbie that I feel looks like me, and a lot of people I know.

Of course, however, I've read 500 comments about how she doesn't look black enough. Well light-skinned Black girls, the public has spoken: time to pick another race!

AKA Barbie looks like several AKAs I know, but where are the pearls? The Lily Pulitzer-looking dress? The custom RL polo?

Eric, it looks more "negroid" than the Bey one.

I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorproated and while I am VERY happy that an organization a part of the NPHC has gotten their own Barbie doll, which I can imagine is very hard. I have to say that while the doll does look like most AKAs I know and have seen, I wonder, do any of the AKAs feel that the doll represents what it is said about your organization, mainly if you're to dark you can't get in. As a dark-skinned sister, I feel that all of this light-skinned being better than dark-skinned is giving our African-American young females a VERY bad inferiority complex, and then people wonder why Barack still has to go through the racial crap. I mean if we as a race don't like people who are "too dark" then why should we expect anybody else to respect us.

sophistAKAted & elizabeth…

Im happy, too! The AKA barbie looks nice and I hope that as each of the other sororities reaches their centennials, that we can have a Delta Barbie, a Zeta Barbie…but most of all, an SGRho Barbie (smile!)…you know I have to repRHOsent for the poodles!

First a Barbie and now Michelle accepted honorary membership…I suspect many more negative comments.

LOL I do agree, as each organization reaches 100 years old they should be represented.

Hopefully so…@ Elizabeth. At the end of all of the centennials it would be nice to have all four dolls. I was just thinking how old I will be when we reach ours in 2022…OMG…it's scary…I will TRULY be an oldhead!

"Erykah Badu can be impregnated by however many men she wants to, thank you very much" Lol! Damn. You're so sarcastic.

I guess that's a form of empowerment for The Badu Queen : the freedom to have kids with whoever and whenever she chooses. It's not like she's a victim of men who didn't take their responsabilities.

I don't agree with Erykah Badu's decision to have babies out of wedlock with three different men.

I am happy to see the AKA doll and I am a brown skinned sista. I love it and realize that it is impossible to satisfy all. Just give it up to whomever got this deal with Matel. The whole issue of skin tones did not start today and will not end today, so let's just give props when they are due and fight the next round for our darker hued sistas (One with locs)
