Of course a debate about black issues wouldn't be skewed in the black guy's favor

  • Tavis Smiley promises the Democratic presidential debate at Howard University tonight (PBS, 9pm) won't be the Obama show. [WP]
  • The nations drug war could be more accurately described as the war on blacks involved in drugs. [HP]
  • Al Sharpton, done partying with the young folk at the BET Awards, is back to scaring the pants off of white people. [LH]
  • Is this a vast conspiracy to keep me from being able to purchase Beyonce tickets? [BG]
  • A U.S. Senator is urging Bush to nominate an African American for an Arkansas federal judgeship. At the rate he's going with his nominations, he would have to find a black judge that hates black people. Not the easiest task, but if anyone can do it, GW can. [KATV]

Stub Hub is actually not bad, but ONLY for sports tickets. I got my Bey Bey (actually Essence Fest)tickets from Ticketmaster which hurt my soul b/c I consider them the devil.

Lauren, try ebay. I always use it when I can't get tickets to something.

Damn, the NBA Draft is tonite…I didn't know the homie Obama was coming on…but since I haven't heard him speak in a while (we do understand that the election is in November 2008, right?), I guess I'll tune in…

does anyone else feel like the election campaigning started wayyyyy early this time around…people can't wait to get this boy Bush out of office…sad thing is, January 20, 2009 is a looooooong time from now:-(

I wish we could at least nominate the people who go on the news acting like they are speaking for every black person in America and I hate that most networks use their views as that of the "black community." CNN at least tries to have that biracial militant Reagan Republican on at times, though I don't think either hold views that most black people have.

i.e.: their choice of issues, causes and people they focus on. We have far bigger issues than Don Imus and I think the National Association of Black Journalists did their job in getting the word out. Focus on, gee, I dunno… disproportionate levels of obesity, health problems and poverty, access to good care, high crime rates and victimization rate, etc. There are lots of people doing this work. Al Sharpton is no where near the top of that very long list.
