MTV’s Hottest Rappers
Might Not Be Yours

MTV recently unveiled their 10 MCs in the Game list, for which the network’s hip hop journos took into account the rappers’ work in the past 6 months to a year. Even though this isn’t about career-spanning accomplishments, the list barely makes sense: The Game is No. 3? Jim Jones is on the list at all? Lil Wayne, in a triumph I’m sure will please a few Stereohypers and infuriate 50 Cent, took to the No. 1 spot. Here’s what he had to say.

“I saw the preview [of the show], and if I’m lying, I’m flying: I was like, ‘Who won?’ … I’m glad I won. Yaaa dig! Don’t stop believing in me. They say I’m the Hottest MC in the Game. If you label me that, I will live up to it. Trust me.”

I guess that means he’s happy?

I must say.. I am highly disappoitned in this list.. you got to be kidding me.. Lil Wanye is descent and definitely came up, but #1 I am not sure. Nas, Snoop, or even Ghostface should be on that list or even #1’s.. Definitely, they should replace 50, Jeezy, and Game.. I mean these dudes besides game(maybe) dont got no real skills skills on the mic…

If you talking bout a real HOT MC, Cassidy will blaze the mic, Ghostface will blaze the mic… hell i’ll put REMY MA on top of 50 & Jeezy… this list they got is a joke!

LOL. I was just on SOHH reading about the list this morning, and you know those dudes have something to say about it. Haha. The thing is everybody has their favorites so it’s not going to please everybody, but keep in mind that the list was made by MTV who doesn’t really know much about rap anymore - and the list is who’s HOT right NOW. That being said, the list contradicts itself b/c Jim Jones is a one hit wonder and 50’s star is falling. Jeezy can’t rap. Everybody else on that list can spit some shit though so I’m not mad at it. Yea, Game should be at number 3. I mean, have you listened to his CDs?? They are gangsta and west coast so if you’re only into one style of rap ie east coast or that southern snap your fingers crap, you probably won’t be feeling it. Regardless of what you think about him, he’s a pretty good rapper. Andre 3000 can straight flow and Common is the truth! And then we have Weezy F. My thoughts on him are well documented, but he’s more than a pretty face (haha!) he can spit some fire. Buy the Carter II or any of his mixtapes and you’ll see what’s up.

They used too much to determine “hot.” Skills, radio and air play, etc. They should have had a skills list and a radio/tv play list b/c mixing the list gives us a terrible list.

I’m not trying to be funny but the first line of that quote that 50 cent gave about winning made my head hurt. It was just that stupid.

That list is bogus. I’m liable to take the second group over the first even though I listen to 9 out of the first 10. The ordering is all wrong and when you say “hottest in the game”, I need more criteria.
