Robert Mugabe, prick president of Zimbabwe for over 20 years and head of its ZANU-PF party, continues to request a runoff election before he will leave office. Surprisingly, independent monitors say Mugabe deserves what he demands. According to them, Morgan Tsvangirai, the opposition party's candidate, did win last month's elections, but not by a wide enough margin to immediately claim the presidency. Tsvangirai, of course, begs to differ.
Anyone with some knowledge of Zimbabwe's history under Mugabe can understand his opponent's resistance to a second election. The president is known for his fishy victories and the current contested election is progressing in a way that is dashing the world's hopes for a democratic Zimbabwe. Roving ZANU-PF mobs calling themselves war veterans have begun terrorizing Zimbabwe's agrarian countryside, destroying crops and running away farmers. Most of the displaced have been white, but black members who support the opposition have been attacked, also. It is believed Mugabe set these gangs into motion in order to intimidate Zimbabwe's citizenry into supporting him in a runoff.
There is now little hope for the nation's maize and wheat crops, and starvation seems imminent.
Mugabe is no better than Idi Amin. He is a cancer than needs to be taken out. Where is the UN when we need them?
…because of course the UN has worked wonders in Rwanda and Sudan
The real pricks in Zimbabwe are the whites who 'own' nearly 100% of the arable land there. As white nations became one against Mugabe's intent to redistribute the wealth, their economy went to hell. It's a many times-told colonialist tale.
Cord, did you write this because you were concerned about the safety of the oppressors? (Well Noted trying best not to call Cord another Uncle Tom SellOut White Is Right Oreo cookie) I have to be skeptic since it came from you…and you are uncomfortable with your blackness and think white women look better than black women. YOU HAVE NEVER DATED A BLACK WOMAN.
I just noted that this post is called 'hubris'. Were you referring to the whites who stole the land, or the black people who persist in trying to rectify this nonsense? Zimbabweans have been serfs in their own land of plenty for far too long. Mugabe did not set up that situation.
What is really appalling is that the most powerful white nations in the world have banded together so effectively, in an undeclared embargo on Zimbabwe. That's why people are starving. It is why their money is no good.
It's an awful situation made worse, by those who believe the indigenous people should be satisfied with working solely for the profits of white colonialists. Never owning land. Ruled by subsets of armed militias of mercenaries paid for by hite 'farmers'.
Idi Amin is way out of Mugabe's league, and it's unfair to lump them together. Mugabe did not expel whites or any other ethnicities. Instead he said: "The land is ours. It's not European and we have taken it, we have given it to the rightful people… Those of white extraction who happen to be in the country and are farming are welcome to do so, but they must do so on the basis of equality."
Megs, defending Mugabe in any way is lunacy.
This is a man who started a tourism initiative whereby "rich and fat" Westerners would pay to go to Zimbabwe and work farms, thereby losing weight and becoming fit and strong. He's deluded, and any comparison with Amin seems fair enough.

Are you also criticsing Tsvangirai by your strange defense of Mugabe? Because that would seem to be the case. Millions of Zimbabweans are fleeing the country, inflation is out of control and life expectancy has dropped to below 50. You don't need to defend colonialism to be opposed to Mugabe.
Mandela saw Mugabe for what he was many years before it became clear to those in the West; a "freedom fighter" with no guiding principles or compassion. He needs to go.
Well Noted: I have never seen where Cord said that white women look better that black women. Nor have I ever seen Cord say that he is uncomfortable with his blackness.
You either have some inside knowledge or you are on some sort of campaign to ride Cord's nuts.
Either way, this isn't healthy for you, doll.
Try to get out and get some fresh air.
P.S. to Well Noted, jealousy hurts. I just want you to feel better.
Sure, Uncalled For, it's CORD that's uncomfortable with his blackness.
Aw, Shane! I didn't nominate Mugabe for man of the year– I said and still maintain that he is no Idi Amin. I also believe he needs to go. But you can't deny that the undeclared embargo of Zimbabwe has deflated their currency, and encouraged whites to keep 'their' land, come hell or high water. That is wrong, and even the global white patriarchy will not save them.
Yeah, I got some inside information on Cord, that's why I can say the things I say…and that's why he has to cry to the editors and get me censored. CORD, is a bonafided Double dipped chocolate OREO cookie who is sooo concerned about the plight of whitie in Zimbabwe. He is a female version of Courtney Mann of Philadelphia.
Well Noted, seriously, I am saying to you that this isn't healthy for you.
And frankly, more importantly, is very boring and unentertaining for me.
Call my office and we can talk about your issues.
Otherwise, respect that Cord is a great writer and he is doing his job, and please let it be.
