Murdered for the Color of Their Skin

"Once, albinos used to seek shelter from the sun. Now they have gone into hiding simply to survive, after a series of killings linked to witchcraft. In Tanzania, 25 albinos have been killed in the past year. The latest victim was a seven-month-old baby. He was mutilated on the orders of a witchdoctor peddling the belief that potions made from an albino's legs, hair, hands, and blood can make a person rich."

I know this may sound kinda stupid, but Darnell, a black albino man on Big Brother UK, has really increased my awareness about Albino people.
Did not know much about them, except that they have to melanin in their skin/hair. Its not even hereditary.
This is truly said, ignorance is not bliss. I hope the police are looking for those people.

Murdering people based on ignorance, stupidity, or one's own insecurity is just plain evil.

I'm not surprised. I've heard stranger things ordered from witch doctors.

Unfortunately, amongst Africans who practice or believe in witchcraft the view is that illness or death are the result of the person's misdeeds or the caused by someone with evil intentions.

Some are even using Christianity/Islam to justify these backward practices, some so called preachers will claim to have powers to extract demons or thwart their evil activities.

These so called religious figures and witch doctors are playing on deeply held cultural believes and superstitions and as long as education continues to be absent we will continue to hear of these types of crimes.
