From Congressional Quarterly: "Let the record reflect that Barack Obama made the approach to John McCain tonight. As the two shared the Senate floor tonight for the first time since they won their party nominations, Obama stood chatting with Democrats on his side of the aisle, and McCain stood on the Republican side of the aisle. So Obama crossed over into enemy territory. He walked over to where McCain was chatting with Republican Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida and Independent Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut. And he stretched out his arm and offered his hand to McCain. McCain shook it, but with a 'go away' look that no one could miss. He tried his best not to even look at Obama. Finally, with a tight smile, McCain managed a greeting: 'Good to see you.' Obama got the message. He shook hands with Martinez and Lieberman — both of whom greeted him more warmly — and quickly beat a retreat back to the Democratic side."
But he's always talking about how he's a maverick and different from the others by "reaching across the aisle". It's easier said than done, especially when the other person isn't whipping your *ss in the poles.
McCunt is known for being an asshole. A poll from last month (or maybe 2 months ago) indicated that most Americans would rather grab a beer with Obama than McCunt.
big surprise.
I have zero respect for John McCain. In 2000, I liked him as a person and really thought he was robbed thanks to Rove and the bigots who drank the "black love child" kool aid.
At this point, I don't have even the slightest bit of respect for him. I'm not an Obama-stan mind you and this position has to do with McCain's tone in the last 3 months and whoring out being a POW while he f—s vets over every chance he gets.
You'd think after all the malignant shit McCain has "approved of" being said about Obama, that the little liar could smile and shake the man's hand like he meant it. But on the other hand there is McCain's current trend of startling incompetence that apparently held sway here as well.
It's easy to carry on like he does but when push comes to shove, he can't look Obama in the eye. Not even for a handshake let alone the frickin debates.
Wow! Is that how McCain is going to represent us in diplomatic circles? If McCain finds civility difficult in a presidential race, how will he be during nuclear arms talks?
@SweetDiva
He's continue doing what we've been seeing for the past few months: dramatic, not-fully-thought-out maneuvers that will look flashy and seem smart for the first ten seconds then crumble miserably 11 seconds after the fact.
And ppl want that for 4 yrs??
The debates showed his personality very plainly (as I hoped it would)He looked pained to be on the same stage with Obama….smh I'm PRAYING America actually THINKS at the booths next month.
It's a little funny but sad that McCain acted like a bitchy teenage girl when Obama tried to say hello.
Who wants to bet McCain wiped his hand on his pants after he shook hands with Obama?
That showed who really willing to work with the other side McSame just mad because if he lose he'll be known to the "good-ole boys" as the one who lost to a niggra. lol
