Welp, with Prince of Persia, you've done it again, Hollywood! You've toyed with history in order to cast a very white person in a heroic role probably more suited for a person of color, just so that other white people will be comfortable spending their money to see it.
Hollywood execs can suck it big time.
"Persians" are CAUCASION, and can be somewhat dark or as white as Jake, who probably looks more authentic than anyone in "300".
They could have picked a Middle Eastern or at least someone mixed to pay the character.
@solitaire:
I don't think anybody's denying that Persians are "caucasiAn." I think we'd just rather see Hollywood at least look for an actor of similar origin to the character.
I'm not really bothered that Jake was chosen. After all, this movie is based off of an american video game, not a historical event. But I'm really interested to see how Jake pulls off the accent… lol. He sucks at accents.
Is this movie based on a Persian legend or is it based on the game Prince of Persia? If it's based on the game then they did a good job on casting. If it's based on something like The Epic of Gilgamesh then not so much.
In the movie“300″, I noticed that the Persians were portrayed as sexual devants. Anybody remember reading in highschool how much homosexual behavior went on between the males in Sparta? Spartans*, were know for fighting and were kept away from females when training.
How about seeing the brown Asian man from Lost in this movie.
aside from stating the obvious, Jake looks HAWT!!!!!
Here we go again!
Persian people cam be white as a ghost honey!
…They could have picked a Middle Eastern or at least someone mixed to pay the character.
Why?
So you can be comfortable spending your money to see it. LOL
@Chic Noir
Homosexuality is not deviant behavior. Your comments are offensive.
As far as the "brown asian man" from Lost being cast in the film, why would we? Persians are not, and have never been asian.
Btw, this film is based on the Prince of Persia video game. It's not that serious.
I cosign what di-my-e said. I didn't want to be the first one to say it.
solitaire,
chic noir didn't say homosexuality was a deviant behavior.
Prince of Persia was an awesome game.
I don't care that much, but I still kinda wish that the Prince of Persia was Persian.

Homosexuality is not deviant behavior
Please red my comment again & isn't Iran located on the continent of Asia? If so then …
I don't watch lost so I don't know the actors name. I have seen him in a few interviews were they mention he is an actor from the TV show lost.
Thanks Michelle, I she you got it.
@ Chic Noir:
I know right. I guess they decided to omit that part (thank god… lol) so that it wouldn't weaken their "masculine image".
I was wondering why the Persians were so dark. Xerxes looked more south asian than persian. Not to mention the "black messenger" they kicked into the pit/abyss.
@ Chic Noir
I read what you wrote, and it still reads as offensive to me. But whatever…
As far as Iran being on the continent of Asia, it is, but so what"? Turkey,Saudi Arabia,Russia,China, and India are also in Asia. These people do not share a common racial identity. Duh…
Btw, the guy who played Xerxes in 300 is a brazillian (Rodrigo Santoro) covered in face paint.
Solitaire I called the man Asian because because that is where he is from. There are a few British people on this board who can inform you that in England someone who is Pakistain or Indian is called Asian.
What I meant by sexually deviant behavoir in 300 was the scenes which look like we were watching multiple orgies and public exhobistionist sex. I felt the director sought to make if seem like it was normal behavior for the Persians.
I wanted to point out that there was no mention of the fact that homosexuality was widespread in Sparta but the movie made no mention of that. like Ike said, I think they did it so it would not weaken their "masculine image"
@Ike-cosign, see how Hollywood plays on peoples ignorance. I was wonddering why so many of the Persians were blk myself. I was expecting a wider range of looks among the Perians. Really, I think the Greeks and Persians had/have similar coloring and looks but the people in Hollywood had to make the good side=light and bad side=dark.
Persians are NOT people of color. They are very much white. I have many Persian friends and a handful of Persian dates. The only difference between my friend Omid and Jake is that Omid has black hair.
