Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou gave us mortals a sneak peek into their mystifying love in the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar. Best pull quote from Kimora: "He's a reality check for me, and I'm a fabulosity check for him." Because everybody needs a fabulosity check, right! On Djimon's end, he claims Kimora is one of the least high maintenance people he's ever met, but this is probably because she has her own staff of people to take care of her every need and Djimon doesn't need to worry his pretty little head about a thing. Check out an experpt from the article after the jump.
He is aware there's an irony in stripping down to your skivvies after being nominated for an Oscar. "What can I say? It's reality. It's business. Do what you must do that can help elevate you to the next level," he says. "That ad is hot as hell," says Kimora with a sly, feline smile. "And that body is sick. It's really that way."
Djimon, who next appears as a mixed-martial-arts instructor in Never Back Down, out in March, insists he hasn't been to the gym in a while. "Look what I'm eating!" he says, pointing to his burger and fries. "With mayonnaise!" (Says Kimora: "What he's talking about is that he may have a little more to pinch right here, or his face may be a little fuller. He's complaining about things that are unreal to us. Trust me.")
But when push comes to shove, Djimon trusts that his appeal has little to do with his abs and muscle tone. "She has a good man," he says. "Hopefully a good man more than a man that looks good." Swoon!
"He's a reality check for me, and I'm a fabulosity check for him," Kimora says. "After my breakup, I thought, I don't need anything. Russell used to tell me, 'You look good, you're wealthy, you're young, you have kids. Screw the world.' And I kind of started to believe that. But now I have someone who has the heart, the soul, and the hotness. Who knows? I could be eating my words later, but I really doubt it. If people were betting, they would bet their good money on Djimon."
He needs to be done with this skank, sooner rather than later.
Fabulosity check? Yea, that just screams low maintenance.
"He’s a reality check for me, and I’m a fabulosity check for him."
Wha?
No. 4 Lola Falana says:
"Hey Jilly! How did you do that? I want to have BET blocked out as well."
I hope you see this…
I have DirecTV but I'm sure other cable, satellite boxes allow you to do the same thing. There's a feature in the menu that allows you to pick and choose which channels you want to view in the channel menu guide. I have mine set up so that only the channels under 'Jilly' appear. My mom also has a list of crap channels she likes (BET isn't one of them, thankfully). Shit's great because I take dumb shit out that I don't ever watch like BET, Sprout, Noggin, etc.
Truth be told, there is no absolute way this man would be with Kimora unless she has some* depth to her. There are 1,001 vaginas out there, and he didn't pick this one because it was golden (or did he). Tyra and Kimora both give of the air of black-dumb-blondness-mixed-with-a-dash-of-superficiality. But I don't think that is 100% of who they are. Kimora is from the Lou (St. Louis if your nasty) and there is an ounce of realness to her that we (fans and haters alike) will never see. It sells (or at least they capitalize on it) so they do it. We will see if by watching Armistad On Demand will this superluous "fabulous" pricess change her marketable ways.
*Maybe pillow talk of changing the world one (blood) babyphat diamond at a time…
Didn't know she was from St. Louis. Ok, she gets points for being from Missouri.
Call me crazy but I think they are cute. The fabulosity check was a joke. Yall get the sticks out your butts and send positive energy their way.
Stick? Oh..thaaaaaaat's what that is. I've been wondering.
The relationship gets an expiration date when you start giving relationship advice to people in damn near ever article you do. Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Hillary Swank. Kate Hudson was the worst of them all.
I'm waiting for Will-Jada and Courtney Cox
I have a love-hate relationship with the likes of Kimora and Tyra, but I give her her props, they look cute together. And she must have a golden coochana.
Well, Kimora gets the upperhand…Russell and Porscha only got a small comment in Ebony. Kimora made Bazaar…high five girl.
