There's been a lot of talk about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's fight for the black vote, but a USA Today study revealed that most blacks who donate money are donating it to Obama. Timbaland, Rza, and Holly Robinson-Peete are excluded, obviously. But then there's this:
Overall, contributions from blacks account for a tiny share of all political giving. Less than 2% of donations of more than $200 to presidential candidates in 2000 came from blacks, according to the most recent survey data compiled by Georgetown University campaign-finance expert Clyde Wilcox.
So basically these stats mean little in terms of votes or donations. That certainly makes the news less exciting for Obama and less crushing for Clinton — if, that is, their feelings are attached to their money. And these are politicians we're talking about.

Might some people be waiting to see more from Obama? I mean, he still isn't that impressive to me. Black or not. I'm sorry. Yea, yea, yea, when gauged against the fool currently sitting in the White House, yes, he's Mozart/Einstein/RFK (I prefer that Kennnedy) rolled into one, but Bush isn't the best barometer. But then again, I am an unabashed, Clinton-ite so I am very biased. That being said, I'd vote for Gore in a heartbeat so Hillary (Bill) doesn't have me on lock.
I'm sure many black people aren't used to contributing money to any of those old lying ass political figures due to the fact that we've never really had anyone solid to support. Maybe thigs will change in the next decade…I don't know.
Outside the realm of the entertainment field, most rich black people strike me as fairly conservative, but then again, campaign contributions have little to do with the issues. He's a good guy and it would definitely be a major step for blacks and other often underrepresented minorities if he wins. Many people donate to multiple likely winners in both parties, particularly executives or anyone else who might need friends in high places in the coming years.
