Obamarama
On Broadway

Broadway just got a little blacker. Well, maybe not black enough. As further proof that entertainers have a definite affinity for the Illinois senator, some of NYC's famous stage actors will be on hand for a special performance called "Barack On Broadway." Seriously.

From the press release:

During this special evening, billed BARACK ON BROADWAY, Obama will speak and a constellation of Broadway stars will perform, including Christine Ebersole, Marcia Gay Harden, Ruben Santiago Hudson, Kristen Johnson, Phylicia Rashad, Jeffrey Wright, and the Broadway Inspirational Voices. The event will be Directed by multi-Tony Award winner, George C. Wolfe, and feature readings from the works of some of America's greatest playwrights, compiled by John Lahr, Marsha Norman and Jack Viertel. Senator Obama's words will, of course, be his own.

Barack Obama now has the approval of both Oprah Winfrey and Claire Huxtable. Could a black man really ask for anything more?

Oh, right. The presidential nomination.

Dude, this is so over the top already.

But Jeffrey Wright is the !@#$% man. HE should run for president. He's on my list of people I am dying to work with. Obama, oddly, is not. ;-)

ps..do the Broadway Inspirational Voices include the Policeman from the Village People? (I gonna beat that horse!)

These are the kinds of people who expect him to sprinkle fairy dust on all the world's problems. I'm not a Obamamaniac, but I actually feel for him because should he win, his biggest fans will turn against him when they realize that you can't do a 180 overnight.

Unfortunately all the candidates are in that position I think. God help whomever gets elected. They are gonna get handed a war, a country full of forclosures, etc. Ugh.

I think it's great that Obama has really energized the race. He has a lot of people actually caring about the upcoming election and that's good. Whoever wins the race will definitely have some heavy duty work to do. The good thing for that person though, is that it would be pretty hard to do worse than ol' W right now. So he/she almost automatically has a plus. lol Really though, this Broadway thing sounds cool. If there are still tickets available in the 3 digit range, I'll definitely take the hubby to this.

I think the people who worship the ground that Obama walks on are plenty though and his supporters have very lofty expectations (like CCB expected Bush to ban gay marriage in January of 2005, something I'm still chuckling about). Whoever wins is f-ed to put it frankly, but I think the expectations are far more reasonable for the other candidates. People read a motivational book and they expect the man to be god-like. I support Hillary but I'm not expecting things to all of a sudden become rosy. I think Michelle's been trying to fix that but the fanatics are not trying to hear it.
