Barack Obama gave a much-anticipated speech at Harlem's Apollo Theatre yesterday, and while Kiki Shepherd wasn't in attendance, Chris Rock and a wildy-gesticulating Cornel West showed support.

Sidebar: Can people please stop calling Harlem "Bill Clinton's territory?" Yes, Hillary presides over it as a NY senator, but having an office in a neighborhood doesn't make it your territory. Anyway, check the pics after the jump.

If Harlem is supposedly Clinton territory, then are Bill and Hill responsible for the elimination of MF-er from the vocab of black families? Bill O'Reilly needs to get on the case.
Girl, what have you started over on that Imus thread? LOL.
Oh honey. It's hilarious. I call em like I see em.
And what is up with Cornel West? Is he trying out a new persona? His expression is frightening me a bit. Mental illness and genius are closely linked y'know.
I attended the Harlem event last night. I heart Cornel West. He's so smart and soooo friggin' funny. Love him! Oh and Obama was good too.
Any big names in the audience? What did Obama talk about (other than the ussual)? I love Cornel, too, even though he reminds me an electrocuted black Col. Sanders.
"electrocuted black Col. Sanders"
Best ever!
As far as Obama goes, I love the guy, but he only talks in platitudes. The dude is just not ready for primetime, and I honestly fear for his safety, if he were miraculously elected president.
Of course that will never happen, despite Oprah.
I would like to make out with him though. Something tells me he'd be good at that.

Um, no. He smokes. Go lick an ash tray. That's how it is kissing a smoker unless you smoke in which case you can't tell.

True. I feel the same for Clinton actually. Whoever wins the primaries needs to pick a running mate who is a minority in politics. I's personally recommend a Jewish lesbian whose father is a black Mexican. Cover all your bases. If a woman or a black man seems bad to the militant racists, make the alternative appear so much worse to them.
There were no big names in the audience. Most of the big NY politicians have already endorsed Clinton and I don't know why there weren't any NY celebs in the audience. Obama said a few things that I thought were pretty good. He said he will increase the minimum wage every year to keep up with the cost of living, he will pull the troops out in 14 months and he will provide universal healthcare before the end of his first term. He said some other stuff too, but that's what stuck out to me.
