Off The Charts
T.I.'s Dethroned

If nothing else, this week should prove that the buying power of tweens and teens should not be underestimated. It was surely their CD purchases that put the NOW 25 pop music medley and Miley Cyrus, aka Disney's Hannah Montana, in the one and two spots, bumping T.I. to No. 3. Bumped by the daughter of the guy who sang "Achy Breaky Heart?" It's enough to bring T.I.P. out. At least "king" still tops the Hip Hop/R&B chart.

Awww, TI. It's okay. No one's safe from the Disney kids. Disney doesn't play when it comes to getting one of their kids or shows at the top of the charts.

6. Fergie, The Dutchess, 3, 44

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Kids from the burbs should not be allowed to purchase anything realted to music, and yes, I realize this would mean the end of Snoop.

Miley Cyrus - blame this on tweens with too much money. Never heard of the girl until a few months ago.

Colbie Caillat - who??

Linkin Park, Nickelback, Creed and Evanecense are the only three groups that I'll change the channel to avoid when I have VH1 or MTV on. My ears bleed when I hear them. Why are the first two on the list?!

bmd, her music is good for working out. I'll give her that. When was the last time you bought a CD? For me, it was Sisqo's CD from like 98 or 99. I can't complain about these people, but if I've never heard of you, you shouldn't be on the top 20 charts. VH1 is on at my house damn near 24/7 as background noise unless the aforementioned 4 groups are on in which case, I race to the TV from wherever I am to change to MTV. BTW, when did MTV stop playing music? It's always LB, The Hills, Sweet 16, the show about exes being put together while their current partners spy, RW, RR, etc.

I buy CDs all the time. I don't watch any music stuff on TV though. I listen to XM and CDs in my car and at home.

Actually now that I live in SF I buy less CDs b/c I take public transpo more often so I put more shit on my ipod. When I was still living in LA, and in my car 24/7 I bought a gang of CDs so I would have new ish to bump in my car b/c XM gets played out after a while. So the truth is I probably buy half the CDs I used to, but that's just b/c my lifestyle has changed (sucks) not b/c of the music.

Why do you not buys CDs, Daria?

1) Apple store gift certificate for songs when you fill out stupid little surveys
2) Piracy is definitely the norm where I went to school, so the idea of going back to buying music just seems ridiculous and wasteful
3) pandora music - free online music and you set "radio stations" for your favorite artists or songs
4) My music budget is spent on concerts, esp. for newer artists.
5) Music videos on You Tube
6) I like clothes, food, make up, Netflix, electricity, charity, etc., far more than I like artists
7) vH1

8) Beyonce, Ne-Yo, Jay-Z, Robin Thicke, and all of them do not pay my student loans. And the people at Sallie Mae don't play. That should be #1!

OMG. Sallie Mae doesn't play. I think they are going to send a rep to my funeral to look through my casket for loose change.

I just switched my federal ones to THE (Total Higher Education) because I was sure Sallie Mae would put me in default before I even got my diploma. Only my private loans are with Sallie Mae. THE is better. I called them for forbearance because I didn't have a job whe I graduated) and ::gasp:: they answered their phone, e-mailed me the form, I filled it out and faxed it to them. And that ish was done. Sallie Mae won't even change my address.
