Off the Charts
Damn, Homie

It's what all of the "mainstream" blogs have been waiting for — the end of Britney Spears' first week back on the album charts. It's probably not what her few remaining fans had hoped for — the comeback-that-wasn't ended with her in the No. 2 position behind The Eagles, with only 290,000 albums sold. Since I can't find the words to describe my feelings on this subject, I'll turn to the words of 50 Cent:

"Damn homie, in high school you was the man, homie
What the fuck happened to you?"

It sort of sums everything up.

And because the top of the Billboard 200 is completely devoid of either color or soul, I hit you with the Hip Hop/R&B album charts after the jump.

Artist, Record, Peak Position, Number of Weeks on the Charts

1. Will Downing, After Tonight, 1, 1
2. Keyshia Cole, Just Like You, 1, 6
3. Playaz Circle, Supply & Demand, 3, 1
4. Jill Scott, he Real Thing: Words And Sounds Vol. 3, 2, 6
5. Kanye West, Graduation, 1, 8
6. Project Pat, Walkin' Bank Roll, 6, 1
7. J. Holiday, Back of My Lac', 1, 5
8. Soulja Boy, souljaboytellem.com, 4, 5
9. Angie Stone, The Art of Love and War, 1, 3
10. Trey Songz, Trey Day, 2, 5

britney wuz robbed. the only reason she came in at #2 was because was because of a recent change in how sales are calculated. i think it's that sales at chain stores are now tabulated. i can't recall exactly. anyway, that's how the Eagles managed to get in at #1.

I can't gather the energy to care. The only person Ilike on that list is Kanye. No, I do not like Keyshia, Jill or Angie.

This is so offensive to large people but during my last transatlantic family reunion, there was a lengthy argument about Jill and Angie. The conclusion was that D'Angelo is a chubby chaser. If two black women (who have nothing in common looks wise except for their weight in common) can be mixed up by my family (over 2 dozen black people), I can't be so mad when white people mix black people up.

Britney has always been garbage to me so I'm tripping that she was even that close to the Eagles. On the other tip, Keyshia's my girl and Jill, Angie and Kanye can do no wrong in my book. D'Angelo is from the south and IMO, men in the south (or from the south) don't have that hangup about their women's size. Your family might not get it but if it made him happy and she had his back, chubby or not, it's cool with me. Besides, Angie's voice is so comforting and soulful and she can rock it live–unlike Brit.
