Already-famous-in-the-UK Leona Lewis has officially crossed over to the U.S. market with her album Spirit, which opened at No. 1 this week. Ray J had a very good showing — for Ray J, I mean — with the 7th highest selling album this week. They should all prepare to be bumped next week, if the fact that Mariah Carey has just sold 154,000 albums in her first day is any indication. I can make fun of her at times, but Mariah is Mariah.

Leona Lewis = sexy, sexy lady
Here's hoping she doesn't end up with some scumbag soccer player in England.
Bleeding love is pure shit.
sorry don't see the hype.. bleeding love is an ugly song, her voice is annoyning…. there
Ray J?!
British music is far head of American music in talent, quality, creativity and innovation.
Bleeding Love is a great track….
I'm kinda in love with Leona though, I guess.
What exactly is great about bleeding shit?? This chick is doing the same sub par vocal gymnastic crap pop Mariah has built her entire career on.
Anyone who thinks british music is far ahead of american music, just needs to take a weekly peek at the top 10 UK charts on any given week.
The Brits are ahead in many ways. Music isn't one of them.
Solitaire would you prefer Leona to have a voice like Cassie or Rihanna?
OK I am not taking anything away from her; She is drop dead gorgeous, very talented. But the UK has many artist that don’t fit this look (mixed, branded as exotic) but are just as talented and they don’t get the chance to cross over. I want someone who looks like NINA SIMONE to get a chance to cross the pond.
i.e. Jamelia, Beverly knight, Mica Paris
(look them up on google.co.uk)
Y'all, maybe it's just me but I'm just not buying it. I like her sound but to me it sounds a little dated & honestly, how many pop "divas" have come out with a "unique" sound/image that was awe-inspiring, brand new? Not many IMHO.
Anyway, I definitely prefer Ms. Corinne Bailey Rae over this sugary stuff but maybe that's because I'm grown. Leona is just not cutting it for me, not to say that she's not talented or beautiful, she is–but why must all black females who sing pop/R&B resemble Beyonce/Rihanna/AKeys in some sort of way? I would definitely prefer India.Arie, Jill Scott, or Ms. Badu over this microwaved formula.
OK, I'm gone.
slick check out Estelle. She has a hit single with American boy and is signed to John Legend's label.
Chic noir, they're not even in the same genre so that's not even a decent comparison. Rihanna and Cassie are pop singers. They are far superior to their British counterparts. Well, Rihanna is.
oh, she's black? Really. Let me guess, black father? Anyway, I'm not feeling her single. Amy Winehouse and Lilly Allen were better imports from the UK.
Was entry No. 5 smoking crack when he/she said UK
"British music is far head of American music in talent, quality, creativity and innovation". We are a nation of talentless MF's.
America has the talent but yes it does lack the creativity and innovation, which you wont find in our charts as its strictly underground. Your production values are far superior.
Leona best voice to come out of the UK in the past 40 years but as long as she's with Simon Cowell she'll sing crap, get Clive Davis to produce and pick the songs.
I take it back Leona has the best voice since Mica Paris!
@glad: Yes. Agreed. She also has the best voice since Beverly Knight, let's not forget her.
It's true - US singers are the gold standard and once in a while we produce a singer who stands shoulder to shoulder with them. However, Jamelia wasn't one of them. She was our Ashanti/Cassie: great to look at, but you wouldn't go crazy for the music. Beverly Knight and Mica Paris were certainly comparable to US artists.
Although, #5 wasn't wrong. Some of our artists have created genres/sub-genres - look at acid jazz, jungle, drum'n'bass, breakbeat, broken beat, garage and grime, whatever you might think of them. So we're certainly not short on creativity. As for the rest, I don't know enough to agree/disagree.
Okay. Back to this: Ray J?!
