One Georgia Bar Owner's Curious T-Shirt

Not Cute

An "ultra-conservative" entrepreneur in Marietta, Georgia, is quite pleased with himself for selling Obama '08 shirts that feature a photo of Curious George and a banana. Mike Norman claims he didn't mean to offend, and opines that we as a people should really be past the point where we're not allowed to call black people monkeys. See, he's a progressive!

"We're not living in the (19)40's," Norman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Look at him . . . the hairline, the ears — he looks just like Curious George."

Although a small group of people gathered outside Norman's bar to protest both the shirts and the " provocative musings regularly posted on a sign out front of the bar," others say they consider Norman's bar a safe place for bigotry.

"This place is a diamond in the rough," said one patron. "People here are genuine and honest. It's the one place I can go without having to worry if I'm offending someone."

The things white people do sometimes….WOW! Did no one say…"this is not a good idea" Did he really not get that this would catch heat. What arrogance, what close mindedness. This is why racial tensions will never die, because there will always be people who think they can do things like this and that there is no problem with it….Yikes

hehe obama does have big ears that stick out a bit, and the hairline… oh yeah … and i voted for him… hooray for mail in voting in oregon
