With 50 Cent? I have little respect for Tracey, but WTF?!

Slate's pseudo-intellectual articles are amusing to me. How the hell did they phrase these questions for 1/3rd of black people say that we were doing better economically than whites? I'm from the burbs and there were lots of successful black folk around, but I would NEVER say blacks have EVER done better than whites economically. They also fail to mention the actual change in unemployment for everyone, then compare that for whites to that of blacks. Doing the same with average household income makes a big difference. Compare the numbers from 84, 88, 92, 96, 00 and 04. I've taken one journalism class and that was in high school yet I seem to know more about writing well than those at Slate.

Oh. I'm not saying they're wrong. I don't know because they didn't give me the information, perhaps because it would ruin the conclusion that they came to before writing it.
They looked at those numbers and decided that it was due to inflation. Okay. They don't HAVE to do a detailed economic analysis. Tell me what it is. Why the hell are the only numbers they report from opinion polls? Some Googling and looking at long as PDF files would be the minimum I expect from any article of this length.

Slate is full of shit. At no point in U.S history, have blacks EVER fared better than whites economically.

Regarding the Clinton era, the writer is right, there wasn't much gains for Blacks, unless your were already a Black middle class already dabbling in the financial markets or small business owner.

The reason why Blacks hold such affection for Bill Clinton is, his constant speeches about racial fairness, this endeared him to the black community as he was the only President to actually acknowledge Blacks with that degree of respect.
Otherwise his presidency was a failure for Black advancements. - He never stood firm behind a Black candidate. - he never hired many Blacks for his Cabinet. - He always was quick to lecture the Black community, to show his strength to the rest of America. - Neither better education nor job advancement was achieved for Blacks. - He only moved to Harlem because the Office Suite he wanted in Mid-Town was too expensive.
Much of the esteem that the Black community holds him in, is in reality a "fairy tale".
I like Bill because how many people would be courageous enough the tell 280 million people a lie, remember when he shook his finger at America and said "I did not have sex with that woman!" didn't we all feel ashamed and stupid for having accused this innocent man.

I happy that the cops are making some sort of effort with Compton. That's important because it's getting way to crazy out there.

As far as the noose:

I always wondered what would happened if blacks were in power. What would be our symbol of fear: a mayonnaise sandwich?

Stacy - What's so funny about that? LeAnne is someone saying that Blacks concern about the threat of a noose is not important.
there are those who feel a Swastika or a cult symbol are dangerous objects.
But a noose or a burning cross is just the imagination and fear of Blacks.

LeAnne's stupid statement is an insult to Black concerns about an historical symbol of hate and danger.

"I happy that the cops are making some sort of effort with Compton. That’s important because it’s getting way to crazy out there."

Yea, it's been GETTING crazy in Compton since 1981.

Currently the influx of Mexicans pushing out blacks doesn't help.
