Pimp C, 1/2 of Texas-based rap duo UGK, was found dead Tuesday morning at the Mondrian Hotel in LA. Paramedics found 33-year-old Pimp C, who was most recently in the news for "International Player's Anthem," UGK's hit song with Outkast, and some controversial statements he made about other artists in the industry, in bed. UPDATE: Pimp C (aka Chad Butler) probably died of natural causes, but the coroner is awaiting autopsy results to confirm.
Capt. Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner's office said Butler had apparently died in bed.
"At this time there's no signs of foul play," Winter said. "It appears to be possibly natural, but pending autopsy and toxicology we can't say the cause."
Butler had been in Los Angeles to work on his next solo album for Rap-A-Lot Records, according to James Prince, the Houston-based label's CEO.
