I am deeply disappointed that something like this would ever happen to anyone, let alone a 14 year old. We must all remember that we were once 14 and blameless/innocent. It is unfortunate, but R. Kelly took advantage of this poor girl, which in turn has left deep scars…some could be nearly unrepairable. I am a survivor of sexual assault at the tender age of 14. I was raped by a then 18 year old senior in high school. I carried this most horrendous act clear into my adulthood. Over the course of 20 years I had lived in denial, self-blame and very low levels if any self esteem. It’s not about race, economic stats, etc…The fact remains that this is and was against the law. These type of acts on a person are so damaging. Perhaps R. Kelly is sorry, but does that make it right to not admit his mistakes? There is a God in heaven and he will handle this accordingly. Letus have respect and offer up prayers for this woman. Have compassion for her. We were all once 14 and either have a child this age or eventually. What reaction would be if it were your child? My heart goes out to the family and victim of this self-centered, self-serving blasphemous act. Justice will prevail.
