Real Housewives Gets Some Color

realhousewivesofatlanta.jpg

The Atlanta installment of Bravo's incredibly-addictive guilty pleasure, the Real Housewives series, is coming soon. And, in a distinct departure from RH norm, the majority of the snobby, materialistic, delightfully-entertaining, cat-fighting cast this time around will be representing Atlanta's "black elite." Yes, some, but thankfully not all, are married to professional athletes.

A sneak preview of the series airs July 30th at midnight. Read about the cast after the jump.

* Deshawn Snow: nonprofit founder, wife of Cleveland Cavaliers baller Eric Snow
* Kim Zolciack: single mom, aspiring country-music singer
* Lisa Wu Hartwell: real estate firm owner, jewelry and baby-clothing designer, model, actress, writer…and wife of Oakland Raiders linebacker Ed Hartwell
* NeNe Leakes: nonprofit founder, wife of real estate investor, two sons
* Sheree Whitfield: single mother of three, clothing-line owner

I can't wait for this to air!!!
@Katdat - Why did you hate the NY cast so much? I absolutely loved the single chick and the one with red hair (I forget their names).

There are some times that I really don't care for diversity.

Daria: I sooo feel u on that. Lmao! I already can't stand snobby white people, now they're black? Oh God. To be honest, I think I dislike black snobs more than I do the white ones.

Yeah. I was embarrassed for women when I watched the NY edition. Now it'll be black women?! Boo.

I wouldn't say I dislike one type of snob more than the other. I will say that the over-the-top snobs are far more entertaining and thus, more likable. I'm looking right at you NeNe.

@ M i do, and i luv it!

@ Daria, love ya, but lol at the snob comment, you called yourself a snob in an earlier thread…

on topic: i can not wait for this show, seems so funny to see rich people complain and whine about dumb shizz.

@Di-My-E: I think it's very natural to hate in others what we see in ourselves. That being said, I'm not an ostentatious, wannabe nouveau riche snob.

I'm judgmental and very "particular," but I'm also very polite (unless I'm treated poorly in which case, the cutting remarks just spurt out).

I haven't watched the other shows but I think I will actually watch this because there aren't enough black families on television anymore. It would be great to have another series.

Don't care for elitists or snobs of any color.

*M*, I watch No Reservations too, and I absolutely love it. Very interesting in my opinion, and the people he comes across have much different experiences (and personally more interesting) than RH have.

I'd rather watch snarky yet down-to-earth Bourdain than elitists of any color.

Me.. I thought being a 'housewife' implied non-working (except for possibly philanthropic activities)? I and one of the ATL wives have a mutual friend….should be interesting……

Oh wow - ATL is something special. Land of overrated divas, gold-diggers and the like. I really need a new city to live in.

I'll be honest, I was sucked in to the NY installment for about an hour before I snapped out of it . . . I don't like people like that in my real life. You can be wealthy and not show it in everybody's face.

housewife and single mother?? Ummm - I know Buckhead and there are some fabulous, married black women down there…the grouping or black, successful and single mother always seems to get together when it comes to black women…we'll see how this goes :-/ They should have just dropped by an AKA reunion on Peachtree cuz some "happily married" sisters with bank aren't hard to find. Props to the single moms doing their thing tho.

This show is usually a fun guilty pleasure but this better not be a reality fashioned after "227" set to "Georgia On My Mind (the Remix)".

I like the orange county season because there was balance of snob and successful careers women. The nyc season was filled with snobbs and I still do not know what they do for a living. The issue is not color or which one is worst, when it comes to snobs.
