When the 1996 U.S. Women's Gymnastic Team — dubbed the Magnificent Seven — won the team gold at the Atlanta Olympics, Dominique Dawes became the first black woman of any nationality to win a gold medal in gymnastics. This floor routine, for which she received a 9.850, contributed to her team's victory.
She killed it that year.
Thanks for hightlighted the fact that her great routine is the reason why they won the gold! But Kerry Shrugss got all the press cause she landed on a hurt ankle.
I was the happiest little Black girl! I had her posters on my wall and everything lol
I loved watching Dominque. I followed her career for many years, and loved gymnastics in general. That was the last Olympics that I cared about. She will be reporting for Yahoo Sports during the Olympics in Beijing.
I have always been jealous of gymnasts and their ability to flip around like that.
But, I'm tall so I'll survive.
Tip you know they were not trying to give the sister credit.
@Bklyn DreamZ: you, me, and every other black girl I know
