Rihanna Vogues
It's Hard To Take On Madonna

Rihanna performed a cover of Madonna's "Vogue" at Fashion Rocks, which aired last night. Yay or nay? I'm aware that Rihanna's success mystifies some of you…

After the jump, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake cover "Ain't Nothin' Like The Real Thing," and Beyonce salutes Etta James.

I guess Justin Timberlake is really trying hard to be seen as R&B, lol.

I actually liked Rihanna's Vogue performance, even though she was lip-synching the whole thing. White or Black, JT is a really good singer, no doubt about that.

I like Beyonce, but she's lost a lot of her curves.

I channel surfed and stumbled onto Rihanna's boyfriend's performance. Seeing him perform (lip-sync) caused me to continue channel surfing never to return to that show. So Chris Brown is responsible for making me miss Rihanna's performance.

RE: Beyonce and Justin–Whether I'm a fan or not of the music or not, I generally think its fun to see people with actual stage presence peforming, and I think these two definitely have it.

I saw Rihanna's performance and I didn't like it at all. I initially like Rihanna but after seeing her perform at the VMA and last night's show I don't think that she gives a good show. I thought her rendition of the song was really bad.

@ Cosmicsiren: it's the singing. I wanted to like her VMA performance, but couldn't get past the singing.

LOVED Beyonce's "At Last". I wasn't sure she would tear it up like that.

I don't know, I thought Beyounce rendition was good but I expected better. If you listen to "At Last", you'll hear some of the notes obviously only Etta can reach. One thing is for sure, Beyounce has a fantastic figure.

I'm going to need Justin to leave Marvin Gaye songs alone for a good long while. I liked Rihanna's opening.
Mariah was a bore.
Perhaps this was a result of editing but why did Bey elect to put that hideous Etta James Wig back on during the Stand Up to Cancer song?

It takes time to become an Entertainer. With a big E. Justin's mom and Bey's dad groomed their kids(except Solange) for this from a VERY early age. Of course they've got this.

Rihanna's parents didn't groom her for show biz. Considering her reported relationship with them, it doesn't seem like they did much to even support her even so that she doesn't have magnetic stage presence is really to be expected.

The fact that they've re-released Rihanna's latest album 18 times, I'm gonna need my girl to step it up live. I wanted to like her performance, I mean who can't vogue? It's the easiest dance after the twist and the walk (look it up) and she couldn't seem to get it. Can't her man teach her some moves or something? That would help her live performance game a bit. Also, Solange has performed better live than I saw on Fashion Rocks so I was a little disappointed. The editing sucked. Bey had the wig on for the tribute, off wearing the Stand Up tee while watching her sis perform, which was after the Stand Up song, and on for the actual song. Weird.
