I woke up to the news this morning and it is truly a shock because I didn't even know he was sick

I'm in shock. Ever since he walked on the stage of Def Comedy Jam and said "I ain't scared of you motherf—ers!" I've been a fan. Plus, he's from my city. A true comedic genius with one of the prettiest smiles I've ever seen. My condolences to his family and friends (esp. the other Kings of Comedy & Kellita/kids from his show). Mr. Mac, we love you man, keep 'em smiling up there.RIP

I got the impression from the news in the last few weeks that he was very ill. I'm not shocked but I'm certainly saddened. My prayers are with his loved ones.

I cried when I heard. He was one of my absolute favorite comedians.

It is so very sad that Bernie passed on… a young man who was still attempting to branch out into new avenues professionally… he will be deeply missed….

He added a lot to the comedy circuit and many comics who came after him were imitators…

I do hope that he is resting with God…
