Ruby Dee, Queen Latifah Victorious At SAG Awards

sag_rubydee.jpg

I was visiting my parents this weekend, and, just in time for what is one of the only red carpet awards shows that was given the go-ahead by the WGA, their cable went out. So I missed the red carpet and the awards, where Ruby Dee won for best supporting actress in American Gangser. But that's what wire photo services and EW.com are for. Check out the pics and the winners (yay 30 Rock and absent Queen Latifah!) after the jump.

Some of those celebs (read: Mr. Jay and Brad & Angelina) look as though they were placed on the red carpet by Madame Tusaude.

I missed the ceremony as well, but am so glad to hear about Ruby Dee & Queen Latifa's wins!

It's on the DVR. My roomies and I will watch it tonight and by that, I mean we will fast forward through the ceremony, pausing only to critique outfits.

Edie Falco - Got that gown from old lady dress section at Macy's
Eva Longoria ate some carbs in the last 3 days or she's pregnant.
Angelina's dress looked like maternity wear. That was exactly the kinda thing Gwyneth Paltrow was doing with kid #2. And yes, they look like sculptures.
I don't love Keisha's dress. On someone else, it's be okay but I guess I expect something extra fab from her every time.
America Ferrera's dress is nice. Suits her well but I would have liked it more in a color.
Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, Tichina: BOO! Like/love em all but they look bad.
Vanessa's dress is okay. In an interview, she said she often does her hair and makeup for awards shows. I can tell.

This is great for Ruby Dee. More people pay attention to the Globes, but true insiders realize the SAG awards are the better indicator in the race for Oscar gold. Actors vote both the SAG and Oscar categories. The Globes are voted by obscure foreign journalists.

Yea, SAG is much better. From what I hear the parties are better too, which is pretty much all I care about. Kidding. Congrats to Ms. Dee.
