Before finding Jesus (and moderate fame) Sherri Shepherd was a lax Jehovah's Witness with a dying mom and a crackhead sister and was sleeping with lots of guys and having "more abortions than [she] would like to count." Deep. I don't watch The View everyday, but I'm pretty sure she's never delved into that part of her past on the show. Instead, she spilled her guts to Precious Times, a black Christian women's magazine. She also talked about her dealing with coming under fire for some of her religious views — recall "nothing predates Jesus" — and how she would be able to save Barbara Walters… if she were only a televangelist!
"Oh, sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Meyer would be so good at this table," she told the magazine. "They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved." Not only does Juanita Bynum sort of have her hands full with abusive husbands and divorces and such, I'm nearly positive Barbara isn't looking to be saved. Although, it might have kept her from throwing Sen. Brooke under the bus. [US]
I can think of many things that predate Jesus…
Why is the View is still on? You should have at least a masters degree to be on that show. Elitist yes..but the dumb should not be leading the dumb.
I would have to agree with M on this one…
I am not being judegemental but…
having “more abortions than [she] would like to count.”
Did she not have time to get some pills, injection or sponge???
I once came across a woman who had nine yes nine. I was thinking to myself what kind of BS is this.
I say this and I stand by it:
Most people who are or come across as supper religious as Sherry, have lived through some things. It's as if their personality gene(s) were coded for extremes

Mary for one.
Also…Adam and Eve.
co-sign chic noir comment #5…
I said the same thing about one of my family members — she throws herself into whatever she does, including religion.
and then they wanna turn around, after they done did (yes, done did) everything under the sun, and wanna be all holy-rolly… don't get me started. that isht goes deep with me…
^^and by "holy-rolly" i'm not talking about their own religious beliefs. by all means, do you. i just can't stand the pedestal they step upon by which to judge and "teach" others.
@summer-I know
agree with Chic Noir.
Oh, I'm sure she's anti-choice now.
She looks like an Oompa Loompa with big tits in that pic.
I'm pro-choice, but isn't having a LOT of abortions bad for your body/vag??????????
It is surgery and surgeries have complications.
This being said, I can't for the life of me understand why one would opt for abortions (which aren't cheap to my knowledge) over contraceptives. When was she having all this unprotected sex? To my knowledge, HIV/AIDS, herpes, PID, etc. are all still around and even if you don't feel like respecting your body by using condoms, at least use the pill, a diaphragm or something. The generic versions of the pill cost like $15/month.
I am very pro-choice but I'm also very pro-prevention. Having volunteered with a reproductive health organization, I know that there is education involved for those who have abortion care. Regardless of what some may think, these clinics aren't looking for repeat customers. It is an unfortunate situation to be in and emotionally very difficult for many so to make these choices repeatedly is not something I can fathom.
@Daria- I think(?), at one time medical assistance payed for abortions.
