Gooding was outside of Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (how very stereotypical!), waiting to pick up takeout, when he heard shots and saw the boy stumble toward him and collapse.

Two LAPD detectives involved in the case did not return calls yesterday, although it is believed the victim's condition improved in the hospital. Gooding's rep, Nancy Kane, confirmed the story.

And no, Gooding never got his dinner.
