» Student Group Apologizes for Charity Drop
• After becoming the focus of national attention, a Carleton University student group is frantically trying to go back on its controversial decision to drop a cystic fibrosis charity as the beneficiary of its annual fundraiser: "CUSA president Brittany Smyth said she was 'very sorry for the confusion' and stated that an emergency meeting of the association's council is planned for next Monday evening and she'll be personally trying to rescind a decision to pull CUSA support for the annual 'Shinerama' fundraiser. But despite CUSA's efforts to backtrack on the controversial decision, a student movement has emerged to impeach Ms. Smyth and councillor Donnie Northrup, the science councillor who wrote the motion." |

Cystic Fibrosis Not Inclusive Enough?
Wherein you, the readers, talk amongst yourselves. In Canada, the Carleton University Students' Association has dropped a cystic fibrosis charity as the recipient of an annual fundraiser after deciding the disease, which primarily affects Caucasians, is not "inclusive" enough. Sounds like PC nonsense run amok to us. What do you think? |

IS TEACHING KIDS RACISM CHILD ABUSE? "A seven-year-old girl and a boy, 2, were recently taken by child welfare workers from a home in south Winnipeg after the girl showed up at school with 'hate-related drawings on her body,' police Const. Blair Good said Monday. Good would not confirm a media report that quoted unnamed sources as saying the girl was sporting a swastika and a white supremacy slogan. Manitoba Child and Family Services is before the courts looking to obtain permanent guardianship of the children. The move is based partly on 'concerns that the parents' conduct might endanger the emotional well-being of the children … and that the children may be at risk of harm due to the parents' behaviour and associations,' according to an affidavit from a child welfare worker." |
