IT MUST BE THE SHOES During a preview of his WWII film, The Miracle At St. Anna, which opens in October, Spike Lee announced that he was directing a documentary about Michael Jordan that he hopes to premiere at next year's Cannes Film Festival. He snagged previously unseen footage from the last two years of MJ's basketball career for the film. [EW] |

"I look at it now and I'm embarrassed I did it," Tyson told the New York Times. "There's a lot of information people didn't need to know… I don't know who I am. That might sound stupid. I really have no idea. All my life I have been drinking and drugging and partying and all of a sudden this comes to a stop. I never thought I would live to this age." Tyson, who has dedicated himself to a life of clean living, will now presumably have the clarity to figure out who exactly he is, at the age of 42. There's always a ready punchline when writing about Mike Tyson, but knowing what I know about his life, it's all just pretty sad. |

Because you're probably tired of me mentioning it — but mainly because it ended this weekend — this is our last Cannes Film Festival post until about this time next year. The festival, which is half about movies and half about celebrites, including non-movie stars (meaning Naomi Campbell), hanging out on the Riviera, wearing couture, and going to lots of fun parties. They live a lifestyle most of us could never imagine, but, to even things out, we can judge all of their red carpet fashion choices. Anyone who wears a dress made out of feathers is just asking for it. |

According to at least one reviewer who caught the premiere of Ocean's 13 at Cannes last night, it was pretty fun to watch. Reports say the stars in the photo above have had to defend the film to critics in Cannes who don't like its light-heartedness, even though the Ocean's 13 castmembers have spent much of their time there raising millions of dollars for amFAR and Darfur relief. They aren't allowed to laugh, too? |

In Touch Weekly and Bauer Publishing did something to make Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons mad enough to sue for libel, although the New York Supreme Court summons The Smoking Gun dug up doesn't specify why. Because Kimora is feeling litigious lately, I won't say how I really feel about her relationship with Djimon Hounsou. Instead, I'll say they look very nice together in Cannes. Very nice, indeed. The Cannes Film Festival, the most well-known, prestigious, and posh international movie biz event, started a week ago. I've waited so long to post pics because, beyond hundreds of photos of (my girl crush) Kerry Washington looking impossibly glamorous (see above), the party has been a little light on revelers of the brown-skinned variety. Check out the few Americans (and one obnoxious Brit) working tirelessly to add some color to Cannes. |
