His road manager, Don Crowley, won't get off that easily, because he smashed the body of the photographer's expensive camera on the ground and went on to swipe at the TMZ camera. |

» OJ Gets All-White Jury In Kidnapping Case, Defense Charges Discrimination
From the Los Angeles Times: "Nine women and three men, none of them African American, were selected as jurors in O.J. Simpson's kidnapping and armed robbery trial Thursday, prompting the defense to complain of racial bias. Lawyers for Simpson and his codefendant, who is also black, charged that African Americans were being systematically excluded after the prosecution removed the lone black panelist who had been in contention for the jury… [Clark County District Judge Jackie Glass] rejected defense motions challenging the exclusion of the individual African Americans and another motion challenging the entire jury. 'There has been no evidence to me that the state has made a purposeful discriminatory effort to eliminate African American jurors,' the judge said, noting that two black alternates remain." |
» Arrested Again, For The First Time
DMX was extradited from Florida, where he pleaded guilty to drug charges this week, so that he could go answer to some more charges in Arizona. Basically, he left jail only to fly across the country and check back into jail. Out of all of DMX's many recent mugshots, this is the first one in which he's cracked this sarcastic smile. This is probably the first time he's been sober enough during a booking to recognize the ridiculousness of the situation he's found himself in. [TMZ] |

» Naomi Campbell Begins Serving The Community… Again
Trouble-causing Naomi Campbell started serving the community service that was part of her sentence for spitting on cops at Heathrow Airport earlier this year. She'll be working in a homeless shelter in London. An "unnamed employee" of the shelterhad a bit to say about the new, famous worker: "The Whitechapel Mission has been dealing with probationers for 130 years and throughout that time every single one of them has been treated exactly the same. She will be working with some of the most needy people in the capital. So she is not going to be given an easy ride or treated as a special case. And she will not be allowed to parade the streets in an orange vest to please photographers like she did in America." [MC] |

» Yes, He's Black
From the Smoking Gun: "Meet Kenneth Smith. The Florida man, 29, was arrested yesterday for wearing baggy pants. Smith was busted by Riviera Beach cops for violating a city ordinance governing low-slung trousers (or, legally speaking, "exposure of undergarment in public"). According to a Riviera Beach Police Department affidavit, cops were investigating a report of a man selling drugs from a parked Chevy Impala when they spotted Smith standing beside the vehicle. As Officer B. Jackson noted in the report, Smith's brown and white plaid shorts "were so low that it exposed his blue and white boxer shorts approximately two inches below his waist." Smith, who was also charged with disorderly conduct, could be fined up to $150 on the pants charge. In a bid to criminalize a fashion style popularized by urban youth and hip-hop fans, Riviera Beach voters approved the new ordinance earlier this year. While first offenders like Smith only face a monetary hit, if a baggy pants devotee gets nabbed more than once, he/she could face up to 30 days in jail." |
» Lesson: Don't Throw Fans
Known-liar Akon is headed to trial to face criminal charges associated with him pitching a teenage fan off stage during an outdoor concert last summer. Another concertgoer was injured when the boy landed on her. "We are pleased that Judge Epstein adjourned the case to a date certain for either a trial or a negotiated resolution," Zellan said in a prepared statement. "Akon looks forward to putting this incident behind him, and in the meantime he will continue to meet every requirement set forth by the court." You'd think Akon would jump at the chance to actually get locked up for a change. [AP] |
» It's Hard Out There At The RNC
Donna Brazile got caught by some errant pepper spray at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., yesterday. The flying pepper spray is an example of what the atmosphere is like out there. So far, there have been reports of tear-gassing and accusations of police brutality. More than 300 people, including Democracy Now's Amy Goodman, have been arrested. |

» Not Assassins, Just Racist Meth Heads
Good to know. From CNN: "There is not enough evidence to conclude that three people arrested with drugs and weapons posed a "true threat" to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, the Denver U.S. Attorney said Tuesday. Troy Eid called the suspects "meth heads" who, because of their drug addiction, were likely not capable of carrying out a plan to hurt Obama. Their alleged plot to harm Obama was apparently fueled by racism and was more "aspirational than operational," Eid said." |

» Interracial Relationship Harasser Gets Prison Time
A crazed Filipino-American from Ohio who dedicated his life to harassing black men who date white women and their biracial children has been sentenced to three years and 10 months in jail. David Tuason harassed regular Joe Schmoes, but he also shot for the stars when he mailed off some threatening letters to Derek Jeter and Clarence Thomas. The reason? A black man "stole" the woman he was going to marry. If that woman was indeed white, Tuason seems not to understand that his children would have been biracial, too. [MSNBC] |
» DMX Does Himself No Favors
From CBS4 Miami: "Rap star DMX didn't make any friends in a Miami courtroom Tuesday morning when he quietly lashed out at the judge who denied him bond. DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, called the judge an expletive when Judge Lawrence Schwartz ruled against bond. 'Oh that just ingratiated you to me. I've never heard the "f' word before so it's okay,' was the response from Judge Schwartz." |
