David Paterson, New York's newly appointed blind, black Governor, recently recounted to The New York Times an incident in which he became "furious" with a colleague when she told him she had encountered more bias in her life for being a woman than for being black: "'Internally, I probably felt myself more discriminated against as a disabled person,' Mr. Paterson said in 2006. 'And when I would experience discrimination from another African-American I would go ballistic. I thought black people were supposed to understand.'"

I bet you didn't know that the Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" is actually a feminist anthem. Will.i.am recently came clean and admitted that the song was written for all of those really smart women out there hidden behind double Ds and small waists. And to think we never would have known.

This 1993 Queen Latifah song is ever so relevant to the current hip hop debate but would be a highly unlikely hit if it were released today. Plus, with the current crop of female rappers, who would perform it? Remy Ma? I think not.
