ferarro.jpgGeraldine Ferraro can go to hell. She doesn't get it — or maybe she does and everything she says is orchestrated to feed into the "racial resentment" that she's trying to explain. Either way, she can go to hell with her "woe is me, white people can't open their mouths without being accused of racism, playing up to affirmative action fears, back-handed, damn-near right wing, Barack Obama has run the most sexist campaign in history" bullshit.

bj1.jpgHEEEERE'S BOBBY I don't know about you guys, but I sort of missed Bob Johnson's contribution to the political process!

'"What I believe Geraldine Ferraro meant is that if you take a freshman senator from Illinois called 'Jerry Smith' and he says I'm going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote?" Bob Johnson said to the Charlotte Observer. "And the answer is, probably not."

"Geraldine Ferraro said it right. The problem is, Geraldine Ferraro is white. This campaign has such a hair-trigger on anything racial … it is almost impossible for anybody to say anything."'

In the same interview, he admitted that his vague statements last year about what Obama was doing "in the neighborhood" were a reference to Obama's admitted drug use and not his community organizing, as Johnson tried to convince an unbelieving public after his comments made the rounds.

Countdown to Keith Olbermann getting called a race baiter.

• Since we all live in a country where there have only been three black senators since Reconstruction and just two black elected governors, many of us know that Ferraro's affirmative-action-in-politics rhetoric is idiotic. But some people are more pissed than others. In other news, she has resigned and Clinton rejects (no denunciation, yet) her comments. [WP, Politico]

gf.jpgClinton supporter Geraldine Ferraro isn't budging after Obama's camp and many others criticized her for saying that Barack Obama is only where he is because he's a black man. Actually, we're all racist for mentioning it.

Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says, 'Let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world,' you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," she told the Daily Breeze of Torrance, California. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton's Ascent Had Nothing To Do With Her Last Name

ferraro.jpgHow often do you hear a white person say that a black person is "very lucky" to be who he is — meaning very lucky to be black? I guess mainly when that white person is Geraldine Ferraro, former VP candidate and vocal Hillary Clinton supporter, and that black person has very unexpectedly but steadily risen to the top of the delegate race.

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she continued. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Really, Geraldine? She's on some serious Gloria Steinem shit, and even Steinem had to backtrack like crazy and was visibly upset after her piece in New York Times, in which she made a similar assertion, was so poorly received. I haven't heard word of Ferraro's backtrack yet, but now Obama's camp is pressuring Clinton to drop Ferraro. Second that!
