HOUSE OF DEREON GETS A NEW WING Despite the fact that the only people I ever see rocking House of Dereon either have the last name Knowles or Rowland, the label is steadily expanding. Later this spring we can expect a lingerie line from Tina and Co., they have a new kids' line, and now they are expanding into sunglasses and jewelry. Tina Knowles says, "I can't wait for jewelery and sunglasses because we're just accessories people." The only thing is, what do "Creole-inspired" sunglasses look like?

For a moment, I'm removing myself from my cynical, twenty-something-year-old body and trying to channel a 17-year-old girl picking out her very own, cubic-zirconia-encrusted, Creole-inspired House of Dereon class ring. Am I excited? Am I feeling like I'm at one with Beyonce, my teen idol? My teenager-channeling skills might be off, but I'm feeling like I just want a normal-looking class ring. Back to the drawing board, Tina?

It's almost as if Solange was allowed to come to Canada to launch House of Dereon with her mother and sister only if she was okay with wearing the least noticeable outfit and having to do her own hair. This picture lays bare all the inequalities in that family. It's not really Beyonce's fault, though, and in the Knowles' defense, what family doesn't have inequalities of some sort?
