David Alan Grier is, as we all know, foraying once again into sketch comedy. We're not overly optimistic about his new show's chances for survival. He'll always have In Living Color, though!
It was just a few months ago that I was making fun of Damon Wayans for saying "Homey don't play that," in a message to his fans. But, you know, only because it seems odd that a guy who followed In Living Color with a pretty successful sitcom that's now in syndication would still be relying on catchphrases from the early '90s. But it wasn't a one-time thing. This TMZ video shows that either Damon Wayans still thinks it's funny and/or relevant or he thinks we do.
I can't figure out what's more interesting, that Damon Wayans skipped out on a gig in El Paso, TX because his friends couldn't get into the club or the fact that he still relies on In Living Color for his punch lines.
In a posting on his MySpace page, Wayans accused the owner of Bart Reed’s Comic Strip of racism after two of his female friends were not let in fast enough at the door.
Wayans writes:
I apologize to my fans and friends for the el paso incident. i had great shows, standing ovations, and I felt the love for the people. However the owner of the club was being a racist prick and HOMIE DON'T PLAY THAT!
This wasn't about anything but principle and how I felt I should be treated.

Don't worry, Homie D. Clown, I mean Damon. You haven't really let down your fans until you skip out on tour dates all over Europe, Nas-style. For now, you're in the clear.
