Usher dumped his mom as his manager last year in a move that coincided suspiciously with his engagement to Tameka Foster. He took on Benny Medina as his new manager, but when he inevitably became disappointed with his album sales, he asked her back. She's his mom, so of course she complied. Mom and son made the announcement in a joint statement yesterday. Wife is probably somewhere pouting.
What's up with Beyonce attending every male celebrity's fragrance launch? Is it in some sort of contract somewhere? Anyway, she seems to have settled into the brown — in a good way — and Usher and his mama seem to have settled whatever differences they had involving the new wife, Tameka. Or maybe this means she's out of the picture?
We should be so lucky.

In one People article, the cancellation of Usher and Tameka Foster's Saturday wedding was blamed on Jonetta Patton's disapproval, the couple's arguments over wedding details, and Usher's cold feet. Basically, no one knows why the Hamptons wedding, which many stars were scheduled to attend, was called off. But the dramatic, 11th hour move has Tameka Foster written all over it.
Usher (full name: Usher Raymond) and Foster, a stylist, also "had a lot of differences about the details. For example, the bride wanted barbeque, [and] he wanted to have [renowned chef] Jean Georges cook," said the source.
As a result of the differences, the wedding "was on again off again for the past few days. [Foster] was calling it off because she wasn't getting the things that she wanted. The mother was calling it off. … Usher was calling it off."
There's no indication of whether or not Foster and Usher will reschedule the wedding or if they are even still together. Regardless of the familial in-fighting, there's still the matter of a baby that's going to be born in the fall. Usher's stuck with Tameka, in one way or another, for life.
Depending on who you are, you might find this photo of Serena Williams horrifying, titillating, or somewhere in between. However you feel, it was nice of her to bare all in Jane magazine for charity. [SR]
Tameka Foster found Chilli at Jonetta Patton's house recently and screamed, "Doesn’t your boyfriend have a mom you can visit?” I would have yelled back, "Don't you have kids you can go take care of?" [Bossip]
Congrats to Laila Ali and Curtis Conway, who got married this weekend. [People]
Another congrats to Lisa Bonet and boy toy Jason Momoa on their new baby daughter. [CBB]
I wonder how much promoters have the nerve to charge for Bobby Brown's Greatest Hits tour. [J-N]
I know you have a tough job. I have a puppy, and that's hard enough. I can't imagine what it's like to be responsible for actual human beings. For some of you, like Kim Fields, new mother of Sebastian, and the proud, book-writing Donda West, motherhood is beautiful. For others, like beleaguered Melanie Brown and fired momager Jonetta Patton, it ain't always easy. I hope Usher sent the latter some diamonds or something for all of her hard work building his career. Probably not.
I don't have diamond money, but I have a blog. So I want to thank the mothers in my life — my late grandmothers, Loretta and Audrey, my dear aunts, San, Deni, Debbiy, Tira, Cheryl, and Diane, and, last but not least, the greatest mother a girl could ask for, Andrea Williams. You're my best friend, and I love you more than words can express. Happy Mother's Day to you and everyone else!
The number one you're in a toxic relationship is when your significant other causes a rift between you and a family member. In Usher's case, his older, possibly pregnant fiancee, Tameka Foster, is rumored to be behind a plot to fire the singer's mom/manager.
"They definitely don't get along," one spy tells us. "Tameka came to Jonetta's birthday on April 6. They hugged and posed for photos, but it was all for the cameras."
The rift dates back to when Jonetta encouraged Usher to fire Tameka as his stylist. "Tameka went on the radio and took some shots at Jonetta," says a source.
But Usher, 28, still liked Tameka, 38, and vice versa. In fact, she ended up leaving her husband for him. (Reps are denying she's pregnant.)
"Tameka has a hold over him," says one friend. "Nobody can figure it out. Some people think he may make Tameka his manager."
Execs at Jive, Usher's label, are said to be concerned. "They think Jonetta's done an incredible job with his career. They're encouraging her to take on Britney Spears."
I'm rolling my eyes at the Britney Spears thing. Why does every parent/manager want to work with this girl. First Joe Simpson, now Usher's mom. The next thing you know Matthew Knowles is going to try to sign her. The girl doesn't need a new mom or dad, she needs a therapist. But, uh, I digress. Back to Usher and Tameka — he had better assert himself real quick before his career goes down the drain like the aforementioned Spears.
