Why did I choose Kelly Rowland as the lead photograph for this post about the MTV Europe Movie Awards in Munich last night? Because everyone, even young ladies who will go down in history for playing second fiddle to a bigger, more talented star, deserve their time in the spotlight. More pics after the jump.

Kelly Rowland's cancellation of three concerts recently was evidence that her career isn't going quite like she wants it to. Her appearance in London yesterday to sign copies of the new "Sims 2: Castaway" video game is even more evidence.

If Kelly Rowland had actually told her fans she was going to "bump like this," they might not have purchased her non-refundable concert tickets. The Knowles stepchild's concert ticket sales have been so dismal she's canceled her Seattle, San Francisco, and Hollywood shows — that's 20 percent of her 15-city tour. The worst part is that the few loyal fans she has in those three cities won't be getting their money back. To the jilted, would-be concert goers, I'll just say that this is the price of doing business with Mathew Knowles & Co.

I don't know about you, but if I lived in Houston and needed some transitional housing, I would settle for nothing less than the Knowles-Rowland Apartments.

Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland were on hand Wednesday for the groundbreaking of the Knowles-Rowland Temenos Place apartments on the corner of Gray and Chenevert.

The project is backed by the Survivor Foundation, which was set up by the Knowles family and Rowland after Katrina in 2005…

The project is described as a 43 unit single-occupancy transitional housing development designed to provide housing for women and men taking "significant steps in improving their lives after … personal and natural disasters," the Survivor Foundation reports.

I mean, how cool will formerly homeless hurricane survivors sound when asked where they live? "Oh, I'm staying over at the Knowles-Rowland place." They will saunter back to their single-occupancy rooms with smiles on their faces. Nice work, Knowles-Rowlands. And American Express and Armani and Wal-mart and L'Oreal and the city of Houston. Nice work.

Quote of the Week

Kelly Rowland on her new video for, you guessed it, "Ghetto:"

I'm working with Andrew Gura on this video. It's very, I'd say … gosh, I'm trying to get the right word out because I don't want to sound crazy. … It's ghetto. It's really fly. I feel like everybody has some sort of element of ghetto in them. Think about it. Right? Wouldn't you say so? And everyone knows what the ghetto is."

Kelly Rowland and Tina Knowles must have put their heads together when Kelly was coming up with her album name and Tina was trying to figure out what to call her new clothing line. Kelly decided on Ms. Kelly, and Tina, thinking a bit more outside the box, went with Miss Tina by Tina Knowles. Who knows? Miss Kelly by Kelly Rowland might have sold a couple thousand more copies.

But I digress. Tina's new line, which features shoes, accessories, and pants, tops, dresses, and outerwear from sizes 2 to 24, shoes, debuted on HSN last night. It's supposedly figure flattering and creole-inspired, but military inspired capes and leopard print blouses don't really scream creole to me. I'm pretty sure the Knowles family just likes to drop that word whenever possible.

The clothes, are, uh, along the lines of what one might expect from Tina Knowles, but they are a bit more understated that House of Dereon duds considering the target audience. In other words, I didn't see anything that was bedazzled. Peruse some looks after the jump or on HSN later today at 4 or 11. Kelly Rowland, now that she's out of Destiny's Child and no longer gets last choice in weave and wardrobe, has really come into her own, appearance-wise. That's why it's sad to know that she spent her earlier years wishing she was fair-skinned just like, and I'm only guessing here, her best friend, Beyonce.

KELLY Rowland once wanted to look white. "It's said that brown-skinned girls don't sell magazines and that's so sad," the sexy songbird tells next month's Essence. "I remember wishing I was more fair-skinned, but Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mom, would say, 'Don't you know how beautiful you are?' She made me come into my brown beauty. I didn't get it, but now I do. I am chocolate and beautiful and loving it."

Sure, Tina Knowles told her she was beautiful, but I don't believe living in the Knowles household and playing second fiddle to Beyonce her whole life helped that color complex one bit. It's great she's snapped out of it now. But she needs to remember that even beautiful girls need to stay hydrated.

T.I. reigns supreme on the Billboard charts this week, with his album selling 175,000 copies on top of the 468,000 he sold in his debut week. Kelly Rowland, John Legend, Rihanna and Shakira all made the long flight to Lagos, Nigeria for the THISday Music Festival. Unfortunately, Kelly collapsed from dehydration during her performance (check out the video here) and was taken to a nearby hospital. She's back in the states and fine, but I blame the fact that I haven't come accross any photos of her from the festival on her shortened set. After the jump, you will see more of John Legend, Shakira, and Rihanna in a getup that's half Madonna circa 1985 and half Tyrone Biggums.

T.I. has proven this week that his delusions of grandeur aren't so much delusions as valid feelings, hasn't he? His multiple personality disorder-inspired album, T.I. vs T.I.P. debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after selling 468,000 in his opening week. Ms. Kelly (Rowland) didn't fare as well in her opening week, but with 82,000 sold and a No. 6 position on the charts, she did better than her solo debut in 2002, when her album, Simply Deep, peaked at No. 12. Last night, Beyonce, her parents, Michelle Williams, and others came out to support their girl Kelly Rowland at her NYC album release party, which benefited LifeBEAT, a music industry AIDS awareness organization. Another notable in attendance? Yours truly! But since I saw little more than a brief glimpse of Kelly Rowland and a clumsy-looking AJ Calloway, the photos after the jump will set the scene better than I can.
