Does this Mr. T Snickers commercial seem homophobic to you? It did to the Human Rights Campaign, which complained that the ad, which didn't show in U.S. markets, perpetuates "the notion that the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community is a group of second class citizens and that violence against GLBT people is not only acceptable, but humorous." I see their point. The state-side complaints have gotten the ad pulled across the pond in the UK. "This ad is the second in a series of UK Snickers Ads featuring Mr T, which are meant to be fun and have been positively received in the UK," said a Mars rep. "However, we understand that humor is highly subjective, and it is never our intention to cause offense. Accordingly, we have pulled the Mr T Speedwalker ad globally." [EUR]

Remember when Mr. T was larger than life, pitying fools all over the place? Now he's on a promotional tour in Australia with Snickers Bars strapped to camo vest, trying to intimidate Aussies into consuming mass quantities of chocolate, caramel and peanuts. Hey, at least he's working.
