kellydrawing.jpgThe legal team defending R Kelly, aka Jack the Pisser, in his Chicago kiddie porn trial rested their case yesterday after just two days of testimony, meaning jurors could be in deliberation as early as Thursday.

According to reports out of Illinois, Kelly’s defense was nowhere near as tight as his cornrows:

R. KELLY'S VICTIM ALL GROWN UP!!!! Numerous emails have hit my inbox promising real photos of R. Kelly's alleged child pornography victim, all grown up. Other blogs have posted photos and videos, even going so far as to call the girl names. There are two possibilities here: One is that at the age of 13, this girl was sexually abused by an older, richer, successful R&B singer while he videotaped it; the second is that she is, as she asserts, the victim of mistaken identity, and it is not her in the sex tapes. However far fetched the second claim might be, either possibility should cause people to pause and reflect before blasting her face across the internet. One would think…

rkelly.jpgR. Kelly's tell-tale mole has been found, the tape has been verified, the young girl has been identified by friends and family, and the prosecution in R. Kelly's child pornography trial has rested its case. Yesterday, 27-year-old Lisa Van Allen testified that she had multiple three-way encounters with Kelly and the victim when the victim was underage.

The jury will break for today and the defense will begin its presentation today. Although, now that the "missing mole" has been found, they will probably be looking for a new angle. Sadly, the fact that the victim won't cop to being in the tape is a pretty good one. [USAT]

I really liked R. Kelly and Sparkle's duet, "Be Careful," back in the day, and she proved the lyrics right in court yesterday, when R. Kelly's defense lawyer got on her nerves. The alleged victim in the case is Sparkle's niece, and Sparkle testified for an hour and a half in court. "You know your blood," Sparkle said. "She's my niece. You just know your family. There's no denying it. … She was my heart." Later, when Kelly's lawyer suggested that she was in it for the money, she said, "Sweetie, I'm not trying to get any money for this!" The lawyer snapped back, "I'm not your sweetie!" Meanwhile, a 49-year-old woman was arrested at the courthouse for hanging by an elevator that transports the jury and screaming, "Free R. Kelly." It's a circus, basically.

Unless You Like Watching Statutory Rape On Film.

rkellytrial.jpgThe jurors in R. Kelly's child pornography trial had the distinct displeasure of watching the sex tape that allegedly depicts R. Kelly having sex and urinating on a girl who could have been as young as 13. According to reports, Kelly "watched the video with a studied stare." Maybe he was trying to act like he hadn't seen it plenty of times when it was part of his personal video library. His lawyer argued that the woman in the tape is a paid prostitute and that the man can't be R. Kelly because there's no tell-tale mole on his back. "Either Robert isn't the man on the tape, or he is some kind of magician," his lawyer told the jury. He might not be a magician, but he does call himself the Pied Piper.

TALE AS OLD AS TIME The jury for R. Kelly's child pornography trial has been officially selected, but with eight white jurors and four black, Kelly's defense team is arguing that the prosecution intentionally sought to strike blacks from the jury pool. The prosecution used four of their seven challenges to strike minorities from contention. The prosecution hit back, saying that all seven of the defense's challenges were used to strike white male jurors. Arguments aside, the jury was approved by both sides, and the trial can finally begin. [EUR]

The Verdict?

kels.jpgWherein you, the readers, talk amongst yourselves.

Despite his request to delay the proceedings, it looks like R. Kelly's child pornography trial will, indeed, begin tomorrow. After all of these years, I can't imagine what the outcome will be. What do you think will be the verdict in this long, long, long-awaited trial? Guilty or not guilty?

r.jpgFinally facing charges on Friday that he videotaped himself having sex with an underage girl, R. Kelly will be protected from the scathing media, which foolishly thinks it has a right to report on a public figure. Chicago area papers and the Associated Press filed emergency motions to unseal court records, but the Illinois Supreme Court has shot down their requests…
