RACIAL FIRSTS On Saturday, Joshua Packwood will deliver the valedictory address at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He's from Kansas City, Missouri, he had a perfect 4.0 GPA, and he's headed to Goldman Sachs in NYC after graduation. Oh, and he's white. He will be the first white student to deliver Morehouse's valedictory address. He said he chose Morehouse because of the attention lavished on him by a recruiter and that the school granted him a "perspective" he wouldn't have gotten at an Ivy League. Of his experience, he said, "I cannot tell you what a black man is. I really learned to look much deeper. It takes a lot of effort to know people." [WLTX] |

GQ recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with an issue that recounts many of the magazine's milestones. But they forgot to mention Renauld White, who, in 1979, was the first black American model to appear on the magazine's cover, or Swiss-born Urs Althaus, who was the first black model to ever appear on the cover in 1977. Based on his formidable mustache alone, Renauld White seems pretty unforgettable. Shame on you, GQ! [Racialicous] |

Diddy is officially the first black person in history to win a FIFI. Is he proud? Bursting at the seams! His fragrance, Unforgivable, won the top men's fragrance honor at last week's Fragrance Foundation Awards. According to him, random black men are coming up to him with tears in their eyes over this historic win. Me, I'm unmoved. But I will say that as many negative thoughts about I may have about Diddy, the man does look like he probably smells good. We all know how seriously he takes the preservation of his sexy. [AHH] |
