Spring '08 Fashion Week: Baby Phat/KLS

bp_kimora.jpg

Out of the celebs in attendance at Friday evening's Baby Phat/KLS show in NYC, the only one who might actually be caught dead in any of the B.P. get-ups on the runway is Remy Ma, who was probably salivating thinking of stuffing herself in that pink denim bedazzled suit. They rest came to see and be seen. See them and some looks from the show after the jump.

octobervibe.jpg

A too-cool-for-school Chris Brown graces the cover of Vibe's October issue. Inside, he squashes rumors about being infatuated with Ciara and proclaims that he's a virgin — in our eyes…whatever that means. Also inside, an interview with notorious Newark mayor Cory Booker. I wonder if they asked him what its like to date Gayle King and Arianna Huffington at the same time?

But forget about the two C.B.'s, I'm all about the "THE RISE AND TRAGIC FALL OF THE DEBARGE FAMILY." Because what could be more relevant to today's music and culture scene? Actually, I love a tragic rise and fall story, as long as its done right.

Lastly, the cover boasts a story described as "From Foxy to Remy: How Girl Rappers Fell Off." Was Remy ever really on to begin with? I don't think she counts.

Pick it up September 11th.

Remy Ma could go to prison for allegedly shooting her friend in the stomach. If that doesn't pan out for the prosecution, someone needs to send her to jail for the crimes committed for crimes against hip hop and video-making** in this very low budget clip for her song "Shesus Khryst." She looks like she went to Home Depot for some wood planks, wrapped some twigs in her hair, draped herself in a white sheet and laid down in a sandbox. She might have used up her video budget on her legal fees.

And Christianity, if you're the religious type

I learned so much today in a NY Daily News item about Vivica Fox's birthday party, which I sort of made fun of yesterday. First, I felt kind of bad about saying she was the only celeb, because, even though they weren't in any photos, Shaquille O'Neal, Swizz Beatz, and possibly Star Jones were there. Hey, it ain't much, but it's more than nothing.

Secondly, I find out the Remy Ma, who showed up in a dress that was very similar to the birthday girls and hair that was all one color (!), had been uninvited as a result of her legal troubles and, after posing on the red carpet, was rejected by security at the door.

Lasty, I already knew that certain types of friends will turn on you in a minute if they think you threw them under the bus. It's something Vivica Fox, who was ordered by a judge not to drink until her DUI trial, should learn from this experience.

vivicabirthday.jpg

Something nice about Vivica Fox on her 43rd birthday:

Despite the disappearing hairline, the collagen, and the silicone, the woman actually does look good for her age.

Something bad:

From the looks of the pictures, not too many of her celebrity friends decided to show up at her NYC birthday party last night. Even Jessica Simpson was a no show! In attendance were some some stylists, a couple of ANTM contestants (Nik and Keenyah, in case you were wondering) and Remy Ma, who was not only wearing basically the same dress (in red) as the birthday girl, but she actually had better hair, too.

Happy Birthday, Vivica!

Which Is How These Things Usually Work

remyma1.jpg

Remy Ma, her manager Big Joes, and an anonymous friend who called into AllHipHop.com all say that the hair-challenged rapper did not shoot her good friend in the torso over $2,000. Well, duh.

The rapper's manager, identified by the paper as Big Joe of New Era Management, said Ma doesn't carry a gun and is not "the kind of person who would shoot someone." He also speculated that Barnes-Joseph was using the incident to seek money.

Barnes-Joseph's mother, Christina Barnes, told the Daily News that she didn't believe Ma's denial. "She shot my child and she knows that," she told the paper. "When the day comes, we'll all find out for sure." She also denied that her daughter would steal money from the rapper. "She doesn't need it and I didn't raise her like that."

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but I think that Remy Ma's criminal record does indicate that she is the kind of person who would shoot someone. Not to mention hurl statues and bludgeon with umbrellas.
