Brown beauties Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union, Joy Bryant, and Zoe Saldana showed up to the launch of the Rogan for Target GO International Line at Barney's. Don't ask me why Target was launching a clothing line at Barney's. It seems sort of self-hating.

The television movie based on Lorraine Hansberry's play, A Raisin in the Sun, attracted 12 million viewers when it aired on ABC Monday, giving the network its best Monday numbers since November. The Kenny Leon-directed telefilm was the first of its kind to screen at the Sundance Film Festival, and starred, as I'm sure you are more than aware, Phylicia Rashad, Audra McDonald, Sanaa Lathan, and Mr. Sean "Diddy" Combs. I confess it's on my DVR, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. If you saw it, what did you think?

Sanaa Lathan and friends celebrated the LA premiere of the soon-to-be televised production of A Raisin in the Sun, which also stars Phylicia Rashad and Diddy. The show airs on Feb. 25th at 8pm on ABC. More pics from the premiere after the jump.

That cast of the on-screen version of Lorraine Hansberry's famous play, A Raisin in the Sun is at the Sundance film festival this week and posed for cast portraits. Phylicia Rashad (sigh), Audra McDonald, Sanaa Lathan, John Stamos, and Diddy (excuse me, Sean Combs) all flew to Utah to show the film. Mr. Combs has a lot to say about his role as Walter Lee.

"I drew on my humble beginnings," said Combs about portraying Walter Lee. Both grew up without a father - Combs' father was gunned down when Combs was only 3 years old.
Combs said his Broadway debut was one of the biggest struggles of his life, and to get prepared he was "blessed" to have lunch with Sidney Poitier and talk about who Walter Lee was.
Once it came time to film the movie, Combs felt confident, so confident that he said it was like jumping from a 100-story building and expecting to land on his feet.

Puffy? Confident? Who knew! The film airs Feb. 25th on ABC. More cast pics after the jump.

Unless You Saw The Play

If you can imagine sitting through a feature film in which Sean "Diddy" Combs is so prominently featured, you're probably looking forward to seeing the television-movie version of A Raisin in the Sun, starring the man himself, Phylicia Rashad, Sanaa Lathan, Audra McDonald, and John Stamos. It premieres Feb. 25th on ABC. I have it on good-but-biased authority* (more on that tomorrow) that it's a hell of a show. [IDC]

*Hint: Phylicia Rashad told me!

Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long posed on the red carpet for a party in honor of the Essence cover they posed for together. Gabrielle Union, who also graces the cover, isn't pictured. I could speculate where she is, but she doesn't like that sort of thing. Pics from the Essence party after the jump.

Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union, and Nia Long are on the cover of the next month's Essence, and guess what? They don't like blogs too much. Especially black blogs. Run by black women. Hmph.

I love how a certain set of black actresses, including Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, Sanaa Lathan and Essence Atkins, always roll to events together and look so close knit in all their photos. Most of them showed up to Lucky Magazine's Foley + Corinna event last night.

It's nice to see black women who could be competing against each other and hating become good friends instead. They probably bond over their inability to find any good roles. More pics afer the jump.

Wonders never cease! Serena Williams made her second good fashion choice of the decade at the Louis Vuitton Party of LOVE in New York City last night. And if she's ever in danger of a relapse, The Fashion Bomb has some tips to help halt her downward spiral. I think our Serena's gonna be okay!

Take a look at some other great (and questionable) fashion statements from last night's parties after the jump.
