I was halfheartedly joking yesterday when I guessed that there would be a lot of tactless, racially-motivated humor in the Sex and the City movie, and I was pleasantly surprised when readers who had already seen the flick declared – however cattily – that I was way off base. Turns out those readers are shameful liars.

The big moment for Carrie fans all over the country has arrived — Sex and the City: The Movie has arrived in a flurry of pink carpet and sparkles. The NYC premiere was last night. Jennifer Hudson looks good — she may or may not have let Andre Leon Talley dress her. He was there, though. Of course!

• For some reason, Kelly Rowland just can't understand why Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson landed the role in the Sex and the City movie that she tried out for. Incidentally, the role was created because, according to Sarah Jessica Parker, "African-American women and women of color have been a big part of our audience for a long time (and) we really haven't been responsible to them." It's the moment women and gays the world over have been waiting for — the Sex and the City trailer has arrived! Unfortunately, it's obvious that Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson does not have a big enough part to make it into the preview.

The first shots of Jennifer Hudson on the set of the Sex and the City movie are in, and, well, here's hoping her character, Carrie's assistant, is supposed to be a fashion victim of sorts. Otherwise, I just don't know what to think.

I really didn't think they had it in them. Here's the great news: the Sex and the City big screen adaptation won't be as white-washed as the series.

Hudson, who's in final negotiations, will portray the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw. Pic revolves around the lives of the four main "Sex and the City" characters, four years after the time frame of the finale of the HBO series, which wrapped its six-year run in 2004.

Pic will begin shooting in New York on Sept. 19.

Not so great news: When rabid SATC fans go see this movie, will they really be checking for J.Hud? To take it one step further, is anyone really, truly excited about this movie? The era kind of ended with the last episode — what more is there to say?

All I know is, Jennifer better Sarah-Jessica-Parker her contract (and include a no-bolero clause) so that she can keep all the clothes.
