Red Carpet, Beyonce Style

Beyonce posed creatively on the read carpet of the MTV Europe VMAs in Liverpool last night. Interestingly, Brit pop star Leona Lewis, from Beyonce is accused of stealing a song (although it seems like the writer just chose to give it to her because Lewis couldn't record it), was also there. Oh, and Solange, of course.

Getting In Where You Fit In

Did you really think the wily Mathew Knowles would leave Solange flailing while the superstar in the family went on tour? Well, it certainly wouldn't be the first time. But something told me the manager dad would take advantage of the opportunity this time around, with Solange enjoying critical success for her new album. Rap-Up reports that "discussions are underway" for little sis to join Beyonce on her upcoming 110-date worldwide tour. After Beyonce's big arena show, fans will be able to see Solange perform at an official after-party in a more intimate setting. Basically, she would get to perform in all the same cities on all the same days but won't be sharing the main stage. So Solange wouldn't be so much joining Beyonce on tour as following her on tour. Hey, it's better than staying home.

So Long Solange

Poor Solange Knowles will get just three months to make her solo mark before Beyonce butts in and takes over with her new album, which hits stores November 18th. By October 7th, we'll be hearing two singles, "If I Were A Boy" (hmm, Ciara might not like that one) and "Single Ladies," a group to which she has not belonged in a long time. Justin Timberlake is reportedly involved in some way, too.

Her label says the album represents "her most personal, reflective and revelatory collection to-date." [Billboard]

Solange Debuts In Top 10

In the midst of getting into familial brawls at funerals and making criminal threats at the basketball court, the Game was putting together and releasing an album. LAX debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 238,382. And our Solange — all grown up — lands at a respectable No. 9 with 49,000 sold. If it sounds like a low number, consider this: Her debut album in 2003 sold 19,000.

Solange Knowles made an embarrassing on-air mistake last week during an interview for the Las Vegas Fox station, but she didn't apologize. Instead, she took to YouTube to defend herself, critique the "level of journalism right now" and instruct the folks at the Fox station to stop "jockin' Jay-Z." They didn't like that too much.

Fox 5 'News in the Morning' anchor Dave Hall delivered a quite candid commentary about Knowles during his broadcast. "No wonder Solange Knowles isn't the famous sister," Hall ranted. "Well she was promoting her new album, whatever its called. Nobody cares! It's gonna be in stores, not that any of you care. What a little brat!" Hall also believes that the younger Knowles is capitalizing off her Grammy-winning sister, Beyonce. "Quit gravy-training off your sister and do your own career," he proclaimed. His co-host, Heidi Hayes, also offered: "She needs to learn some skills on the interviewing."

Can we really blame Solange Knowles for snapping on a Las Vegas news reporter for no reason? The woman is not used to giving interviews and the Beyonce and Jay-Z comparisons — even when they didn't actually happen the way she thought they did — have got to be annoying. She's going to need to learn to let some things go, or at least make sure the comments she's complaining about actually occurred on air. Also, it's not like we needed the confirmation, but by referring to Jay-Z as her brother-in-law, she might be the first family member to acknowledge the Bey/Jay nuptials. [DW]

Despite rumors to the contrary, Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Las Vegas passed inspection and opened (in typical grand style) last night for LeBron James' 23rd birthday party. Lots of stars were in attendance, but expect more at tonight's New Year's Eve party — apparently, none of these people mind spending two nights in a row at Jay-Z's club. More pictures, including one of Rev. Al "Decency in Hip Hop" Sharpton throwing up the Roc sign with Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel, after the jump.

Even people who haven't had kids will probably hate on Garcelle Beauvais for losing her baby weight in such a swift, thorough fashion. If you recall, she looked like this less than two months ago. She showed off her toned-mommy body at People's Grammy nomination party. Check out more pics, including a special one of Solange and her tights, after the jump.

Or Maybe That's Just The Easiest Answer To Give

solangebeyonce.jpg
It's a good thing Solange doesn't aspire to her sister's level of stardom because, well, it probably wouldn't happen if she did.

Here's what she tells Essence.com:

ESSENCE.com: So you don’t aspire to your sister’s level of superstardom?

S.K.: No, I don’t want to get that far. (Laughs) I feel really bad for my sister. I’m always like “Oh, let’s go to the mall” or “Let’s go here” and she can’t. I enjoy having that.

ESSENCE.com: But do you ever feel as if you have to compete with her?

S.K.: No, I think that as artists we’re totally different, and when this record comes out it will express that. But I admire my sister so much. She’s one of my role models in that she is successful and classy. She’s very diplomatic and lives her life true to self.

She may be successful and classy to you, Solange, but I know a whole country full of Malaysians that would beg to differ.
