Rep. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones of Ohio, a fierce fighter for causes she believed in and a champion of equal rights for all Americans, died tragically at the age of 58 yesterday. She was the first black woman to be elected to congress from the state of Ohio, but she's left behind a number of female politicians in the Congressional Black Caucus, whom we probably don't discuss enough (whether we agree with their politics or not). Rep. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, the first black congresswoman from Ohio, is in the hospital in critical condition and with limited brain function after she had an aneurysm while driving her car in Cleveland last night. Earlier reports said the congresswoman, who was an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton and was a fixture on cable news shows during the primaries, had died. [HP]
Update: Later in the evening, Rep. Tubbs did pass. She was 58.
Why does it have to be the black Congresswoman (Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio) who inappropriately grabs a CBS reporter's wrist while saying, "Don't play me like that?"
