THE 'WHITE = WEAK' STEREOTYPE REARS ITS HEAD "A Jacksonville high school student was recently beaten and battered at school by three students he said he didn't even know. Witnesses to the attack told police Forrest High School sophomore Karl Koch Jr. was targeted because of the color of his skin. 'They started closing in, and all I remember is getting hit,' Koch said. Koch's wrist was shattered and six screws and a plate now hold it together. He also has nine stitches above his right eye. Two 15-year-old students and one 17-year-old student were taken into police custody and charged with aggravated battery in connection to the attack. 'I just seen them around school a few times and never really talked to them,' Koch said. According to the police report, one of the suspects said, 'Look at the white boy, he looks like a victim,' before punching Koch in the eye."

A Memphis high school is under press scrutiny after a video entitled "Mitchell High School Memphis … Rape Dat Ho" turned up on YouTube. In the clip, several teenagers simulate rough sex while peers cheer them on. Although the clip was flagged as offensive and then removed from the video sharing site, another soon took its place, this one featuring teens humping the floor a la Peer Pressure, all the while in full view of adults.

Mitchell High School administrators have confirmed that both incidents took place inside the school's gymnasium, but, as you might expect, they are hesitant to take the blame for the act. According to a statement released by Memphis City Schools, it's THE MEDIA that's making these children play rape:

Pop-culture, the Internet and mainstream media greatly influence the activity and behavior of today's youth. We trust that our partners in education — parents, guardians and school families will continue to reinforce to children the appropriate way to conduct themselves before, during and after school hours.

Clearly, "Accepting Responsibility 101" is not part of the Mitchell High School curriculum.

Years from now, if four Florida State football prospects win the Superbowl, they probably won't be saying, "I'm going to Disney World." Why? Because the theme park security banned them for life. The boys, whose fathers include a prominent civil rights attorney and a Disney manager, were banned by Disney under their new "anti-gang, anti-loitering" rules for hanging around Downtown Disney for a prolonged period of time and not leaving when security asked.

Parents of the youths wonder whether there's another reason: They're black.

"I keep thinking to myself, 'This is crazy,' " said Mark Nugent, stepfather of Vincent Williams, football star at Ridge Community High School in Polk County. "Once they realized they weren't gangbangers, why didn't they let them go? They took their pictures. They fingerprinted them. And treated them like common criminals."

Because of concerns about a rise in ganglike activity at Downtown Disney lately, loitering or "any other inappropriate behavior" by groups of youths is not going to be tolerated, spokeswoman Jacquee Polak said Tuesday.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, 45 of the 46 people banned for life from Disney during the past two weekends were black or Hispanic. Because when white kids hang out at a theme park, it's all in good fun, and when black and brown kids do it, it's gang activity.
