» Terrence Howard Sued For Alleged Punch

Tex Allen, composer for the Broadway production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, claims in a recently-filed lawsuit that Terrence Howard, who starred in the play, physically attacked him. Allen wants $5 million in damages because, according to the lawsuit, Howard repeatedly punched him in the face for "unreported reasons." [UPI]

» By the Way, Terrence…

Someone forgot to tell Terrence Howard that he wasn't going to be in Iron Man 2. He found out Don Cheadle would be replacing him when the rest of us did. Here's what he told NPR: "It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. I read something in the trades that implicated it was about money or something but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on. And promises aren't kept. Good faith negotiations aren't always held up." [BV]

Money makes the world go 'round, and it looks like it caused Terrence Howard to lose a high-profile role in the sequel to this summer's wildly-popular Iron Man. According to Hollywood Reporter, "the deal fell through over financial differences, among other reasons." Other reasons? Maybe some off-the-wall toilet paper stipulations in his contract? We shall never know. Don Cheadle was chosen to replace him.

Consumers Vote Jeezy

Young Jeezy publicly registered to vote this week. Good for him — hopefully some fans in Georgia follow his lead — but his registration was conveniently timed to coincide with his album's first week in stores. It debuted at No. 1 and 260,000 copies, that's about 170,000 more than the second runner ups, The New Kids on the Block sold.

Sir Terrence Howard also debuted on the charts this week, hitting the No. 31 spot and selling 14,000. Hey, it's his first try.

Black People.

Known to leer at the ladies from time to time (read: all the time), Terrence Howard is of course hanging around at New York's Fashion Week. A reporter from the New York Daily News witnessed him exhibiting some odd behavior at the Fashion Rocks event — more leering, pretending to bite a male friend's nipple, etc. — and then had an even stranger conversation with him.

REPORTER: Oh! While I have you, who do you think has better style, Michelle Obama or Sarah Palin?

HOWARD: Black people. Black people is always the answer.

REPORTER: What do you think of this election?

HOWARD: Black people. All the way around.

REPORTER: And how would you describe your style?

HOWARD: Black people.

(There is a four-second awkward silence.)

REPORTER 2: So how's your album going to do?

(HOWARD laughs.)

HOWARD: Black people. I'll be back. I need to go have a cigarette.

In the interest of fairness, I'm not even going to begin to critique Terrence Howard's new song "Sanctuary" or the video for it. You probably know I'm biased when it comes to this subject. I will say that, unlike Howard's acting talent, his singing skills can be quite easily denied. Let me know what you think.

Terrence Howard caused a bit of behind-the-scenes drama at the ALMA awards this weekend, when he went way off script while he was presenting an award with Mexican actress Angelica Vale (the original Ugly Betty). He was apparently so taken with her that he thought it was appropriate to ignore the teleprompter and kick game on stage in front of television cameras and a live, celebrity audience.

Howard made things awkward by "flirting and asking her questions that got her blushing and flustered," wrote gossip Janet Charlton. "He ended up adlibbing that he'd like her phone number. They eventually got around to presenting the award, but shortly after that the producers, citing 'technical difficulties,' insisted on reshooting the presentation.

If she decides to give him a chance, she should make sure she stocks her bathroom with a selection of baby wipes before she lets him come over to her place. He will check. [EUR]

Don't Tell Lies About Mr. Cosby

Even though no one, and I mean no one, seemed to particularly care about a story Terrence Howard told recently about shooting a scene for the Cosby Show and then getting blackballed by Bill Cosby himself for years, Bill Cosby is upset enough that he's putting in phone calls. First, he called Howard, who said, according to Cosby:

"The young man said to me on the phone, 'Mr. Cosby, [in] the conversation we had, you gave me information that was valuable,' recalls Cosby, adding that Howard said he "tells people this."

Then he put in a call to EUR.

terrencehoward.jpgPeople has chosen Terrence Howard as one of its Sexy & Single Men of '08. "I'm the most arrogant person you'll ever meet, and any woman I date has to know that," he told the magazine. "Life is too short to pretend that you're okay with somebody when you're not." Swoon! Stay away, girls. He's mine.

thoward.jpgTerrence Howard has been kind enough to supply People with a sneak preview of his album, Terrence Howard – Me and the Band of Kings, which he described as an "urban country" album.

"Music has always been the road that leads to where I'm headed. Film is my vocation, my 9 to 5. In the movies, I'm doing what somebody else is asking me to do," Howard said. "Music is my own personal form of expression. My responsibility, like the sun's, is to shine. Even if the planet is covered with clouds, I must say what I have to say."

During my listening session, I was distracted by visions of floating baby wipes and clean, celibate women, so you're going to have to let me know your opinion. Just so you know, one of his songs was inspired by Seal and Heidi Klum's relationship. This dude is so odd.

terrencehowardfamily.jpg As if it's not embarrassing enough for Terrence Howard's daughter that her dad, in this day and age, threatened to kill her boyfriend and compared her to an unripened fruit, he's telling the press about it. Somehow, someday, a publicist is going to need to tell him how weird he sounds in interviews. Handle that, publicists!

"She’s supposedly in love with some guy. I made her break up with him, and I’ve threatened to kill him. I was like, you picked a green fruit from the tree that’s far from ripe… [I told her],I’ve set a lot of things aside for you, but those things are only yours as long as you’re obedient to me.. She’s OK now. Though, I’m sure he’s still kind of her boyfriend. This summer I’ll take her off to another country where her phone won’t work, and he’ll start dating someone else."
