TRL one of the only shows on MTV that actually plays music videos, has been canceled. The last show will air in November. The show's producer said it wasn't ending for good, but "needed a break." Obviously! It will free up more air space for scripted reality dating shows. [AP]

Smile, Keyshia! Ne-Yo's Off The R. Kelly Tour

Yesterday was apparently black music day on TRL with Keyshia Cole (in an intricate cream number), Mario, and Lupe Fiasco, who has apparently recovered from "Fiasco-Gate," in attendance. It was kind of Keyshia to take time out of her dysfunctional, weird, dramatic R. Kelly tour to say hi to the fans in Times Square.

• Barack Obama adds a gay minister to his scandal-plagued gospel tour. Unfortunately, that didn't actually placate the people who are furious about his association with Donnie McClurkin. In fairness to Obama, they should also be furious with most of the other candidates for similar reasons. [QT]

• If only someone had gotten around to checking out that DNA evidence before this guy spent more than 20 years in jail for a rape he didn't commit. [CNN]

Ciara Goes Behind The Camera, Rihanna Tries VJing

As part of an Glamour-sponsered Internet contest, Ciara will direct the promo video of an up and coming artist. Wouldn't it be better if the unknown artist if Ciara appeared in the video? I don't know, I guess that's why I'm not a marketing executive. Anyway, Ciara appeared in all of her newly feminine glory on TRL yesterday with guest-host Rihanna. A self-satisfied-looking Mims was there, too.
