YAY, UVA Indulge my (fair-weather) University of Virgina pride for a minute, folks. More black students graduate from the University of Virginia within six years than any other public school. UVA has about a 90 percent graduation rate among black students. Top universities like Harvard have black grad rates in the mid-90s, but among schools considered UVA's peers (according to the Washington Post), like University of California at Berkeley, the University of North Carolina, Cornell University and Vanderbilt University, UVA wins hands down. That national graduation rate for black college students is about 44 percent — 20 points lower than the graduation rate for white students.

Bill Cosby's writing a book called Come On People, which shares a theme with his recent most controversial statements (in case you missed it, we all suck). Too bad the only people who would buy such a book are not the people he's trying to reach. [PBP]
